I was a little apprehensive about my first solo trip. From the moment of packing our gear to the final, sad farewell, our guides Alice and Harry were so professional, caring, knowledgeable, and fun. The accommodations, food and service were fantastic. The scenery was beautiful. I could not have wished for more. I was fortunate to have to have a wonderful group of fellow walkers who engaged straight away. I felt so supported and safe and can't wait to do another walk.

This was a wonderful review to read D2931XVsusank. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I'm so glad that you were able to quickly shed your apprehension and enjoyed your trip to its fullest. Our trips are great for solo walkers and we find that people often form strong bonds on our walks both with nature and with each other! We'll see you again soon.

Apart from the absolutely fantastic guides who were just exceptional, the scenery was outstanding, the food was amazing (and catered for my extra requirements), the kayaking felt adventurous but incredibly safe, the accommodation was perfect and the massage felt incredible - an indulgent luxury on a walking trip. Couldn't recommend this trip highly enough.

Outstanding Experience. Family holiday (5) - it was very engaging. Some fantastic walking along white sand beaches, staying in very special places in Beach Tents (In Dunes) and a well structured lodge. The company were very well organised and our two guides were outstanding young Ladies - full of knowledge, stories and engagement. Walking was not hard core, very steady. Main day was 14km. Lots of breaks and swims in the Ocean. Accommodation very comfortable, Food - Wine - Beer all great choices and all locally sourced from Tasmania.
Even better - no phone reception for some of the walk !

What an absolutely fabulous experience this was - in every respect. The only thing Tas Walking Co didn't and couldn't control was the weather and we were so very fortunate that it was fabulous despite being Tasmania in May! We even swam in the ocean along the way. For everything else, which they did control, it was superb - the guides were friendly, supportive and extremely knowledgeable. The pre-trip information, including the packing list, was spot on. The "camping" was both comfortable and warm and the Bay of Fires Lodge was excellent. The food along the way was yummy and, at the Lodge, was even more delicious! I'm 69 and moderately fit and found it reasonably easy - there is some walking in softer sand on the first day but, on the second, much longer day, the sand is hard and thus easier. The kayaking on day three was really delightful (and easy). I can't speak highly enough of the whole trip and of Tas Walking Co. It was my first time with the company and I really look forward to my next trip with them.

While I have always claimed to have a bushwalker trapped inside me, my lovely has never been quite so certain about her internal hiker being desperate to escape! We decided this luxe four day walk was a good way to ease into the bushwalking experience. Had a fabulous four days. We were fortunate to experience a bout of predominantly sunny autumnal weather which makes for the most spectacular scenery. The palette of coastal colours in north eastern Tasmania must been seen to be believed. Welcoming, passionate and friendly guides took great pride in their roles and did everything they could to make our experience a memorable one. The food they produce under the circumstances is amazing. The whole experience was very well paced and organisation was faultless from start to finish. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four day walking holiday with the Tasmanian Walking Company. Our guides were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, and certainly added to our experience. The walk is interesting with a few challenging sections, and there is plenty to see and do. The kayaking adventure offered a fun diversion too. The accommodation is excellent with the two nights at the lodge being the highlight. The food and drink options are locally based and are delicious. We were lucky with the weather. Overall, a first class holiday.

This trip was outside my usual type of holiday but I loved it! I can’t wait to do another trip with Tasmanian Walking Co.
My review is detailed because we couldn’t find much information about the accomodation prior to leaving.
What made it so fantastic was our guides Dean & Sam! They were the loveliest, motivating, fun guides we could have asked for and really made our trip amazing. We also had an awesome group of 8 other friendly travellers, so were not dominated by any groups.
As this was my first trip of this type, I had low rise hiking shoes, but with all the soft sand beach walking would suggest the high heel would have been safer for ankles. Also those who had walking sticks also said it made the sand walking much easier. Graded an easy walk I underestimated the type of walking involved, as it was quite challenging at times. A few fellow walkers had done other walks previously and said this walk was more challenging than others which were graded harder & said it was because of the sand walking.
Unfortunately weather wasn’t on our side which made the trip more challenging. Strong winds & rain.
Day 1 was quite a hard slog along the sand, walking into the wind, the rain, coupled with our packs. A few participants did loose their balance in the wind. We arrived to the amazing Forresters Beach camp. Our guides cooked us an amazing meal & we drank a lot of Tasmanian wine! The huts were solid and secure but our wild winds on the first night had many of us not sleep too well. There are drop toilets, but there are no showers.
Day 2 was the long walk but as the sand was firmer on this part of the beach it didn’t feel such a hard day. But it was still strong winds & rainy. We visited the lighthouse, had lunch, crossed deep creek (had to wade through knee deep water - this just depends on the tide on the day).
All the way the scenery was spectacular!
We arrived to the lodge at 4pm to a well deserved foot bath & glass of bubbles.
The lodge is great. Our rooms were spacious & beds comfy. There are always two groups at the lodge at the same time (the group who travels the day prior & those who arrive the day after), with the sleeping quarters separated . Each group has two communal composting toilets & two showers (5 minute hot water limit). The communal living/dining/library areas are great looking into the ocean from lounge in front of the fireplace.
Day 3 - an hour hike (without packs), to our bus who took us to a spot where we would kayak down the Ansons River. Due to the wet/windy weather at parts it was challenging. Kayaks are all double so at least you have a partner. After the hike another hour walk back to the lodge.
Be sure to get in early and get spa treatments as they were amazing. I had an outdoor bath, and despite the wind & cold temperatures it was devine. My partner had a massage & said it was also great.
Day 4 - our final morning was spent lazing around the fire. A few people went for walks, others had some spa treatments. Around midday we head off with our packs and walked for an hour until we stopped for lunch & then hopped on the bus back to Launceston. We stopped in Derby.
Each night the guides & lodge hosts worked tirelessly to put together an amazing dinner/breakfast. We loved each meal. Our favourite Tassie wine, Josef Chromy was served so we were in our element!
Each day out we were provided with lunch which varied each day. It was always simple but delicious! (salad/meat, pasta, noodles).
There are no charging points in the bedrooms, but the library had a power board where you could charge your phones. For those curious about reception, we had none from about half way to start the walk on the first day & none at the beach camp. We came back into faint reception at the lodge. This is great for being able to switch off from work.
We cannot thank our guides, Sam & Dean enough.
What amazing guys - seeing how hard each of them worked was incredible. They were truly what made our trip so special.

An amazing four days. Spectacular landscapes, wildlife and relaxing walking. Tas Walking Co’s systems are amazing and every little detail is catered for. The guides are amazing (yes Sam, better than Gus), the accommodation is brilliant (the beds were more comfy than the five star hotels on either side of the trip), the food is second to none and the wine in front of the fire after a big day’s walking is great. The walk itself is spectacular. Easier than the 3 Capes (which we have also done) but still a sense of achievement. The kayaking is fantastic and an extra thing that adds to the spice of the trip. The weather was amazing, we saw a seal in the first kilometre of walking in front of us on the beach and had a smaller than usual group so we simply couldn’t have had a better time. It seems expensive but when you get on the walk and understand the inclusions and the number of staff that work together to bring you the experience it’s completely worth it.
