Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having concluded our maiden campervan adventure of 2 weeks, this was the only campground we had stayed and is also our favourite. Absolutely no traffic noise and no light pollution. The only sounds are of the winds, the rustling of trees and leaves, waves and the morning calls from all sorts of birds. A perfect site for taking photos of the Milky Way and star trails.
Our site (#10) on the Antechamber Bay side is the nearest to the toilet and sheltered BBQ area. As expected, there is no light, no hot water and no shower. The sheltered BBQ area looks impressive and has even water but we didn’t get to use it. The amenities and the bridge looked newly built.
The adjacent site #9 where the shared fire pit is located is quite near to our site. Luckily it was towards the end of May so that site and most others weren’t occupied.
The nearby beach was too windy and not too impressive during that time of the year. There is a higher ground with a bench on the other side of the Chapman River. The view there was better.
One important thing to notice. The steep drive leading to the sites is narrow and unsealed. On wet days, 4WD would be recommended.

I’ve been to KI a few times and this is my favourite spot. A stunning secluded beach, beautiful bush and great fishing/ kayaking/ camping spot. Unfortunately the toilets are on one side of the river and the bbqs on the other but there are, as I understand it, plans to once again put in a bridge joining the two. Lots of little fish at the river mouth - fun place for kids to fish as you are pretty much guaranteed a bite - but most are too small so need to be tossed back. Go late at night or on a boat to the middle of the river to get something you can actually eat. Within a quick and easy drive from Penneshaw where the ferry comes in (20 minutes or so during the day. Allow more time at dawn, dusk and at night)

The Lashmar Conservation Park is a more than worthwhile reason to hover around the Dudley Peninsula. The views are magnificent and the photo opportunities plentiful. Observe the majestic Chapman River hugging the Lagoon. Peaceful.

Came across the river so on the southern side .Missed the pathways to the beach . Pity that the bridge across to the toilets taken away would have been far more suitable picnic facility . Bar B Q one side toilets on the other side of the river .

Everything here from swampy tea tree’d areas to gorgeous white sandy beaches.
A photographers paradise and a great place for a picnic.
Definitely worth a visit.

While visiting Cape Willoughby light house, we decided to detour to Antechamber Bay for a picnic. What a great choice. A secluded, beautiful, white sandy beach with rolling waves.

Long sandy beach looking back towards the mainland and Cape Willoughby. Chapman River meets the sea at Antechamber Bay ideal for swimming, fishing, canoeing and bird watching, picnic area and campground are also available within the park.
Most of the drive to the park is on dirt roads but worth the effort.

Although marked on the map we had no idea what was there until we spotted a lagoon through the trees and deviated to check it out.
For campers it would be an idyllic secluded spot with basic facilities. The picnic area by the lagoon is well equipped with shelter, seating, tables and a gas BBQ. Appallingly there are no toilets except at the camp site some distance away. This is a real shame as the area is naturally very attractive. There is an urgent need to modify this, even with portable loos.

Dropped in on a weekly visit to Kangaroo Island and was amazed by the beach and signs of native animals. Toilets were clean.
