Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The track (Wompoo Circuit 1.1km) is in good condition, and is a very easy walk for both old and young alike.
Adequately signed and with numerous info boards en-route.
Unfortunately... no waterfall to speak of!
Yes, the Mapleton waterfall itself is right beneath the 'lookout' platform located at the carpark but... in the dry season it does not flow.
Perhaps consider another of the National Parks close by, like Kondalilla Nat Park.

On the day of our visit to this national park we were in luck as there had been considerable rain in the area the previous day. This meant that the falls were putting on quite a show. Fantastic views of both the falls and the valley from the very well maintained viewing platform that is a short walk from the car park.

We visited during a dry spell in southern Queensland and there was barely a trickle of water flowing over the falls. Still, an impressive drop of 120 metres and must be a sight when the river is running high. Close by the falls and the (tiny) carpark is the Wompoo track circuit of only 1.3 km through the rainforest. It is mostly on the flat and makes for an easy, pleasant bushwalk. Nothing too spectacular, but nice enough and takes about half and hour. Not much else to do here. There are toilets.

The main lookout is just over a kilometre from the car park and worth the 'not too difficult' walk. The valley/mountain views are spectacular. Even though not too far from Kondalila Falls there is a difference in the areas that still makes this park worth visiting. A good place for a picnic with plenty of 'bush' sounds to be heard.

Mapleton Falls National Park walk is a great place to bird watch.
An easy 50 minute walk through the rainforest you are constantly serenaded by Bell Birds, Whip birds and many others.
This is a very relaxing walk and would highly recommend.

We had a lovely breakfast at our usual spot just out of Montville (Elements Café) and rather than let it settle walking around the very close Kondalilla Falls we ventured up the road for a further 5 minutes to Mapleton Falls, just to see what it was like. Unfortunately as per other reviews on Tripadvisor the lookout near the entrance is still closed due to land slippage (and has been for some time now) but the shorter walk itself is quite easy, on a well-marked track and can be done in a 30-40 minute timeframe. There is a stretch where the bellbirds are a nice background noise as well. Definitely worth the effort if you are spending a day in the Hinterland.

Spent some time in Montville so we decided to travel to the falls. Unfortunately there has been little rain in the area for some time so the falls were more of a trickle. That aside we walked the 1.3 km Wompoo circuit one early morning. This was an easy walk for all ages that passes through several different types of forest with 2 lookouts(one over the falls, the other Obi Obi valley). There are good facilities here for having a picnic etc such as toilets, seats with benches and covered areas

A pretty spot to stop for a walk and a great view over the valley and the waterfall. The waterfall isn't big but the fact that it drops so far and you're so high up on the viewing platform makes it a great sight. The 1.3km walking circuit is a great activity too.

The outlook over the valley with the waterfall is fantastic and right at the small car park; disabled parking right there beside the viewing platform The viewing platform give spectacular views over the valley especially on a sunny day.
We went for the short Wimpoo Circuit walk. Lovely rainforest and a very easy walk. If had more time would happily go back for longer walks.

Great rainforest walks - as short (1.3 km) or as long as you wish. Somewhat scary lookout over the falls is really quite safe - but it is a long way down to the tops of the trees below. There are other viewpoints on the short walk such as the peregrine falcon lookout. Notices around the walk are informative. The trees are impressive. We heard bell birds here for the first time - they sound like loud mechanical wind chimes - quite magical amongst the trees. Parking is free and close to the start of the walk and there are public toilets near the car park. The short walk is easy going and we saw quite young children manage it easily. That said, we did not see many people at all so the walk was quiet and lovely.
