This was our first stop on our Southern Highlands winery experience and it was a big disappointment particularly given we’ve been here before. It was cold pouring with rain but we’d booked a tasting for 6 people. The gates as we drove down the long driveway said wine tastings from 10am so didn’t think being there half an hr early was going to be a problem. I was very wrong omg. We were given a frosty greeting by restaurant staff who were busy setting up, you got through there to get to tasting room downstairs. I said I had a booking but could we start earlier as it was raining and our first stop had gone quicker than anticipated. We were told no our booking was 11am and the tasting room wasn’t open yet. Very odd given the time on gate was 10am. We huddled under a heater which had just been turned on and had to wait. When we did eventually go downstairs for tasting it was ordinary no atmosphere and unhelpful staff who weren’t really interested. We were offered a tasting board at $15 a couple but declined. I’m not sure why I bought any wine there other than I felt sorry for the people working there they were understaffed. Seriously lift your game and shove a smile on your face.

This was a 60th Birthday celebration with family and friends, table of 20. We had been to SHW a few years before and loved it. The restuarant was full and the food was fabulous. Not Now. I was so disappointed in the quality. The entree was adequate, but who puts slabs of Parmesan on a anti pasta plate? The Meatballs were OK and the Salt & Pepper Calamari overcooked. The mains being Veal Scallopini which was actually tenderised beef was cold and not to standard. The Pork Belly was served on a platter of Deb Mashed Potatoes (just make me vomit) and the small amount of vegetables served on that mess were not cooked. So they were pushed to the side of the plate because I couldn't even get my fork to puncture them. We also ordered Barramundi which came out about 20-30 minutes after the other 2 courses. I feel they forgot it was there as when we got it it was dry and horrible with little sauce or flavour. The dessert was Tiramisu and Panna Cotta...OK not fabulous. A Cheese platter which I wished I had never considered. When we had been here before the place was full, the food good. But there was only our table of 20 and later during the evening 2 couples. We will not be returning.

Really quite disgusted by the way I was treated when enquiring about a tasting. I had my husband and children with me and wanted to have a tasting, for one. As not everyone drinks wine. I do this quite often and never have I felt ridiculed like I was. I explained I'd like to have a tasting and my husband and children were with me so would it be possible to have a tasting in the outdoor area. The waiter pretty much rolled his eyes and said he wasn't going to do a tasting outside but we could take an inside table. I then proceeded to call my husband to tell him to come inside. While doing so another waiter, perhaps the manager came out and the waiter I spoke with obviously unimpressed by my request had words to his manager who looked over at me. At this time I decided to leave as I felt very unwelcome.

Went there for lunch with a few friends.
The food was ok, but nothing to write home about.
Mixed seafood was all deep fried. Calamary were so small and thin and all you could taste is batter and oil. There were a few prawns and small fish fillets. Fillets were also very small, and just like calamary, you couldn't really taste them.
Barramundi was good and good size. However, the only thing that came with it, was a little lettuce on which it was sitting.
Main courses are not too expensive. However, most entrees, salads and limited desserts are quite expensive.
I wouldn't call it value for money.
We won't be back.

Not a friendly greeting - too busy having cofee, Arrogant in her explanation of wine tasting charges.

Another great visit to Southern Highlands Winery! We had to return again this year after such a great visit last year. We came for a tasting and ended up staying for a very tasty dinner! All the wines were delicious ... we struggled to decide our favourite! We ended up going with the Shiraz, though highly recommend the Riesling, Rose and Pinot Noir! Cass (Bubbles) was an exceptional host and it was great to catch up with her again! The Tiramisu was divine! Beautiful setting and all round wonderful experience ... Thank you!

A wonderful place to spend a long lunch with fun company. The food was amazing, I thought I was in Italy. And the service and hospitality made me feel very welcome. The wine was delicate, fresh and soft and complimented the menu

After having discovered one of Southern Highland Wines in the Bundanoon Bottleshop we decided to pay the vineyard a visit. It seemed a bit odd for the tasting table to be in the middle of a function area and it did make for a very distracted tasting. In all fairness however, the guy doing the tasting appeared to be having to look after both the tastings and the function because the only other visible staff member was standing around and doing nothing! That said, he was very knowledgeable and friendly (if distracted) and the wines are lovely. Left happy with a mixed dozen.

Great food- great atmosphere! We went to this vineyard to do a pre wedding visit. We feel in love with the venue; Eddie and team straight away. Fast forward 1 year and we then married there and continue to go
back regularly for lunches. This venue has amazing food and wine and will always be special.

With the Hunter Valley, Mudgee and Griffith to pick from it is easy to forget NSW has some excellent cold-climate vineyards too. The Southern Highlands offers many good food and wine experiences.
