Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We got there just as it opened & were the only ones there so could take our time having a look around.
The kids loved the interactive kids zone.
There was soo much history to see & read about.
Inside the building was a little cold but the heaters were turned on which helped.

Excellent friendly service from the young man at the counter and the ladies walking through the exhibits.

An awesome collection of vehicles and tools and information. Was fascinated at the horse drawn history.

Great to see so many interactive things for kids.

Well worth a visit.

The children enjoyed the fire engine ride. They learnt about fires as a friend as a foe.
I enjoyed seeing the heritage fire trucks.

With a fire background I found this museum informative and interesting. My friend took her two young kids along and they had a ball.

I went with a friend and her 6 year old grandson and it was interesting for adults as well. Easy to walk around and you can get a treasure hunt card for the kids to look for things as they are walking around with a small gift at the end when they hand it in. Not as many interactive things at the moment because of covid but we enjoyed it anyway. No cafe but nice grounds outside to have a picnic. Good parking.

Great place to take young kids, ours were 4 and 5. Still talk about the lessons about fire which I believe is very educational and they enjoyed the treasure hunt, trying to find the items listed in the various exhibits. They absolutely loved the life sized fire engines and pretending to drive. The volunteers at the museum were incredibly friendly and helpful, being especially understanding of young children. We took a picnic and had it out in the open grassed area which had miles of room for the kid to run around, and they loved that they could spot the trains from the rail line nearby. All in all a fabulous day, would highly recommend it for a day out. Thanks everyone.

I took my 3 yo grandson to check out some fire engines. The staff were the sweetest, chatting to him and giving him a card to match pictures with the exhibits.
There is an amazing collection of history and fire vehicles (and horses) in here.
My grandson loved the 'play' area with the fire trucks to pretend you are driving, etc.

I'd love to go again and really soak up the information and history of the place (without trying to keep an eye on an inquisitive 3 yo!).

Definitely worth checking out and the kids will enjoy it too.
Picnic area outside, with a playground and toilets. (didn't use these but good to know) Plenty of room for the kids to run around and work off some energy!
Helpful, friendly staff.
