Very interesting accounts of very early white settlement. Shame that we couldn't go into the Courthouse, that building really looked interesting. 17 buildings dating from the 1830's. Short drive from Lithgow and just off the Great Western Highway.

If you want to see what it was like in the very early days of the colony of New South Wales then this is a terrific spot for tourist and history buffs.

I wouldn't particularly go out of my way to visit Hartley, but if you're on your way to (or back from) Lithgow, then a slight detour off the highway to stop, revive & survive might be worthwhile. If anything, there's an opportunity to stretch your...More

We had a lovely stroll around the township. Make sure to go up to the Aboriginal site and down to the serene river.
