Would advise going with a guide or using a self directed App. We did neither and only after our visit did I read about the uniqueness of this area, rocks, vegetation. The walk is easy & if necessary plenty of areas to stop & rest....More

We just pulled into the parking lot and the adventure began. Our Parks Canada Guide Gail Bradbury welcomed us with her lovely smile and in both official languages. She had such enthusiasm and knowledge about the flora, fauna and geology that you could not come...More

You can tell as you approach the Tablelands by car that it is going to be something special and it is...one minute, you feel like you are in Newfoundland and the next minute, you think you are in the desert. The hike is not hard...More

No, I did not see aliens but as you ascend the path at this landmark, you can easily get the feeling you are walking on another planet. We missed the guided tour but had the opportunity to speak with the guide before beginning our climb...More

This hike was very cool, especially for this amateur geology fanatic. The earth's mantle is a 3000 km layer under the earth's crust that is exposed at this park. The rock you see here is like no other and kept me captivated. If you don't...More

Tablelands is a must if you have any interest at all in geology - or simply are interested in the earth's history. We were lucky enough to have Cedrick as a Parks Canada guide - generously offering tons of information on the site and answering...More

This is definitely a "must do" hike. You can do the short hike (6km return). You can also get a map at the discovery centre and venture further on our own or take the guided off path hike. I wish we had done that and...More

This is a really great hike for beginners or people who just don’t like hills. It only took about 2 hours to do but if you aren’t going to stop to take pictures it probably wouldn’t take that long. The views are great and is...More

Even from far away, you know this is a special place. Other areas are green with vegetation, this place is reddish from all the iron oxide and with very few plants because of the heavy metals in the soil. Due to an accident of history,...More

You can buy he back country trail map from the visitors centre and it has all the GPS coordinates that you need to complete the 12-15km loop. It costs $3 or $5 for the waterproof version. But be warned. Just did the loop... More
