Excellent ruins , best to go when they are having the teddy bears picnic or an reanacment, then you can see the dungeons , and get a history tour .

Will definitely return here in a few months when all scaffolding work finished. Enjoyment of the castle is limited by the restrictions it places on the visit at the moment. Enjoyed walking around the green reading the info boards. Had a good conversation with one...More

Well I guess history isn't everyone's cup of tea but if it is then this is a great plave. Lot's of money is being spent on it too which is a worthy cause. Good museum a very pleasant tea room. Good parking excellent access.

It might have said on the website - apart from a bit of tower and a few bits of wall there is nothing visible as the biggest bits of ruins are completely covered in scaffolding, and the bits of wall are fenced off. Extremely limited...More

There must have been thousands of people who attended this event. It was a calm, dry warm night for a change. All gathered up at Pontefract Catle where they were able to get lanterns from the Pontrefract "lioness'es" who had organised the event. Face painters...More

Five of us went to celebrate a 92nd birthday. It was the first time the Café had provided an afternoon tea and what an excellent job they made of it.

This once awesome castle, steeped in history is completely inaccessible to visitors due to the extensive restoration work. Even the information panels were outside of the security fencing. This is not explained on their website. To compound our completely wasted journey, we endured a tour...More
