Located the famous statue of Indian Princess Pocahontas in the churchyard of St George's Church - lovely peaceful setting in the well kept flowerbeds of the church - looks nothing like the Disney version though :-)

This is an interesting statue but needs some renovation. More I think needs to be made of it. Most people use the church as a cut through into the town from a carpark so unless you were searching for the statue you could easily miss...More

Had no idea of the history of Pocahontas. Nice quiet place to have lunch. Clean and well maintained area.

Visit the Statue and look around the church at the same time. not much else to see - no-one is absolutely certain where her grave actually is.

A nice statue to a very famous native American, taken from her lands at an early age and who was buried here, near this statue. Sadly most only know of Pocahontas from the Disney movies, but hopefully this statue and her true story will outlive...More

A lowly and poorly maintained replica (commissioned in 1958) from a greatly superior and well maintained bronze statue of Pocahontas by William Ordway Partridge which is in Jamestown, Virginia, and dates from 1922.

Pocahontas died on a ship anchored off Gravesend before she was able to return to the country of her birth. It is popular belief her remains are interred somewhere in the vicinity of the church, having been removed for reburial after the previous church was...More
