Blackburn Cathedral is one of England's newest cathedrals, yet it is one of the country's oldest places of Christian worship. For many centuries, this has been the Parish Church of Blackburn dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin. It continues as a place of prayer and worship and is now at the centre of the Diocese which takes in almost the whole of Lancashire.

Wonderful mixture of old and new. What they have done with integrating modern sculpture into an ancient building is most impressive.

A lovely looking building from the outside, made more so by the recent work to redevelop the Boulevard which makes the Cathedral even more striking a building as soon as you leave the railway station.

I had not been in the Cathedral for years but did so this Christmas and discovered it was much more beautiful that I remembered. Perhaps I just appreciate things more as I have become older, but it is well worth a visit.

A more modern cathedral with an inspiring spire, letting in light and changing with the weather, noe adjacent to a great cafe and good on a wet Lancashire afternoon

Hi, yes.....There is a hotel right next door to the cathedral, and the parking for the hotel is just across the road from the hotel.
