Magnificent museum in a beautiful city. Very friendly welcome with coffee, tea or water. Nice introduction movie, beautiful garden. Old norbertine presbytery extended with beautiful new construction. History Roosendaal, importance norbertines of Tongerlo, railway junction and industrial development. Carnival and club life.

Cozy and beautiful museum with a lovely garden and a nice restaurant with a beautiful view over the square.
I was lucky that there was a jazz concert in the adjoining room of 'De Kring'. After seeing the museum I was offered free tea/coffee. A friendly volunteer pointed out the Passage a little further around the corner. Spent a wonderful Sunday in Roosendaal.

Het Tongerlohuys is onlangs heropend als erfgoedcentrum voor de gemeente Roosendaal. De hele Roosendaalse geschiedenis is mooi in beeld gebracht in de verschillende ruimtes. Zo zijn er ruimtes gewijd aan de sport, het verenigingsleven, het station, de bedrijvigheid etc. Er is goed gebruik gemaakt van audiovisuele hulpmiddelen.
Vooral wat er was en er nu niet meer is heeft indruk gemaakt. Indrukwekkende weergave van de lokale geschiedenis. Aanrader.

het Tongerlohuis heeft geen onaardige collectie, maar er zit geen lijn in. Dat geldt zowel voor de route door het museum als voor de manier waarop de objecten zijn tentoongesteld: hap-snap. Jammer, er is meer van te maken. Aardige bestemming voor een regenachtige middag.

In het museum biedt men wisselende presentaties aan die een hedendaagse kijk tonen op verleden en toekomst. Het belangrijkste in het museum is de historie over Roosendaal. Rond het museum ligt een gracht met prachtige waterlelies. Het gebouw is een oude pastorie die helemaal vernieuwd is en beschikt over rode accenten.

Filmpjes sommige sprekers slecht te verstaan. Weinig uitleg veel fotobehang ook zonder duidelijke uitleg. Er is weinig te zien aan schilderijen of andere attributen.

Ik kwam er langs en ging naar binnen. Op dit moment is er een expositie van hedendaagse Vlaamse kunstschilders. Maar op de bovenverdieping bevindt zich de vaste collectie. Daar wordt de geschiedenis van Roosendaal als havenstad uit de doeken gedaan. In 1980 is de haven gedempt. Tot aan het eind van de 17de eeuw was het een doorvoerhaven van turf. Het museum is gehuisvest in een oude pastorie. Een prachtig oud, statig huis. Het was leuk om even binnen te zijn. Dit is het enige museum dat Roosendaal rijk is.

warm welkom in een interessant museum. Je voelt je meteen thuis als je bij aankomst een kopje koffie aangeboden krijgt.
Wij hadden ons aangemeld voor de gratis rondleiding. En wat een gezellige rondleiding was dat. In ongeveer anderhalf uur zijn we het museum doorgewandeld waarbij onze gids alle onderdelen van het vroegere leven in Roosendaal belichtte.
Een niet te groot museum dat een bezoek zeker waard is. En als het kan, maak dan gebruik van de gratis rondleiding, het scheelt je veel leeswerk.
Wij hadden ons aangemeld voor de gratis rondleiding. En wat een gezellige rondleiding was dat. In ongeveer anderhalf uur zijn we het museum doorgewandeld waarbij onze gids alle onderdelen van het vroegere leven in Roosendaal belichtte.
Een niet te groot museum dat een bezoek zeker waard is. En als het kan, maak dan gebruik van de gratis rondleiding, het scheelt je veel leeswerk.
