- Gerty AHelvoirt, The Netherlands3 contributionsQuiet appartment with sea view.We requested a quiet appartment with sea view and we certainly got what we wanted. Beds were comfortable, balcony great, kitchen basic but we could cheaply buy everything we lacked at the Euro Maki close by. Shops, restaurants and beaches at walking distance. We enjoyed ourselves very much.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 October 2023
- Tim CWhitley Bay, United Kingdom27 contributionsExplore the whole park, not just the coastThe whole area is so varied yet most people only see the coastal strip. I stayed at the Playa Park and walked direct South for two hours through scrub, malpais and amazing sand dunes. Then I went easy to El Poris before following the coast back to Corralejo. I even found a running river in the desert.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 23 October 2023
- janeymadridMadrid, Spain100 contributionsViews to die forBeautiful natural park, an array of sand dunes with amazing sunsets. There are chipmunks in some areas. And you can rent buggies to drive around the dunes, as it’s a natural park you won’t be allowed to drive over the dunes.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 January 2024
- Rosemary MLeeds, United Kingdom114 contributionsGreat area for sand hiking & photo opportunitiesGreat for a beach hike and lots of photo opportunities. Loads of kite surfers to watch wizzing around the sea. There are some nudist sunbathers but they mainly stay inside the stone circles except when wandering down to the sea. None of them bothered us was just not expecting this. Good place to wander easily from town either on sand or rocks.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 January 2024
- mariposaAdeje, Spain359 contributionsstrong wind. I didn’t understand anythingWe came according to recommendations, it took a long time, I want to say, nothing special, strong wind, the ocean is the same as on the whole island. It’s not worth the special trip. I was there for 10 minutes, no, I don’t recommend it.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 January 2024

- BraindamagedbaronNewark-on-Trent, United Kingdom1,414 contributionsStunning dunes in wonderful surroundingsA beautiful spot just outside the resort of Corralejo. A really pleasant place to spend a few hours relaxing on the dunes in picture perfect weather. The area can get very windy, that's the nature of the island but that's a small price to pay for the scenery. Find a quiet spot, take a picnic, soak up the sun and enjoy Fuerteventura at it's most natural best. Stunning.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 March 2024
- David DDevon, United Kingdom26,661 contributionsAmazing beaches, sand dunes and sceneryThis is an amazing natural phenomenon which includes the Grandes Playas de Corralejo, Las Dunas and surrounding mountains. Combining it all together it really is a spectacular sight. The Park stretches for roughly ten and a half kilometres from Corralejo on the northeastern side to Montaña Roja (Red Mountain) South of it. Sunday 4th February and we walked through part of the Park from Corralejo to our Hotel, Riu Palace Tres Islas, a distance of about five kilometres. A number of linked beaches form the Grandes Playas and Las Dunas starting with Playa de Corralejo Viejo at one end to Playita del Poris at the other, all washed by the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches near Corralejo are favoured by the windsurfers due to the windy conditions, while the others are used by sunbathers. We did drive along the FV-1 road, which stretches from Corralejo to Puerto del Rosario and passes through the heart of the Natural Park. At times it was like we were driving through a sand dune with sand piled up on either side of the road, stunning scenery. There is lots of roadside parking so that visitors can visit the beaches and dunes, this can cause congestion at times. There are signs along the way advising motorists of sand along the road. Our Hotel, Riu Palace Tres Islas and Hotel Riu Oliva are located in the centre of the dunes within the Park. From our balcony we had views along the beaches in both directions, in fact we could see as far as Montaña Roja. Standing, at one end or the Park, at three hundred metres high, is Montaña Roja an impressive landmark. It is possible to climb to the summit of the mountain along a number of pathways. Reportedly the views of the Park, from the summit are spectacular. Still amazed that permission was given to build the hotel and the road FV-1 in the Natural Park. Visitors are asked to respect the dunes and the Park and leave nothing behind.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2024
- MandyWellaLiverpool, United Kingdom71 contributionsHeaven for sandy beach lovers! The Corralejo Sand Dunes are perfect for sandy beach lovers! A taxi from Corralejo town centre was about 10-15 euros (ask the driver to drop you off at either of the RUI hotels if you want to be on the beach front). The facilities are good - toilets (take tissues with you), beach bar, outdoor showers, loungers (9 euros for two). It is quite windy, which makes the fierce heat feel deceptively cooler than it actually is, so be sure to take plenty of sunscreen. The waves and the water are cold but invigorating. We had so much fun jumping the waves. Further down the beach is a nudist section. We spent a wonderful day, relaxing, walking, swimming and getting fantastic tans! We brought our own food and water from the supermarket beforehand, as there's not a lot of choice for food and drink. We just bought Malibu's and ice creams there which was fine. You must visit if you love a good beach!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 April 2024

The morning light is amazing and great for photos, plus there is generally less wind (certainly not always)
I was there alone with no other people!
The dunes can have a lot of wind packed sand so it’s not too difficult to walk in barefoot- I recommend keeping sandals on for the first 50 feet as there is some fresh glass it seems closer to the roads.
When climbing up the dunes it is a bit softer, but such fun in bare feet.
If you go later in the day be prepared for wind gusts and consider taking a scarf or face guard.
Easy to drive to and park and do on your own.
If you are taking the public bus it is at least 1.5 km to walk south from the hotel Rui bus stop area along the highway. Road has a great shoulder so it’s safe to walk on. Note the bus schedule is on the half hourish for pick ups to Corralejo and about 20 past and 10 to the hour going to Puerto del Rosario. On Sundays there is 1/2 as many buses (so pick ups at 1/2 past and 20 past only)

Here is a very good place for Kitesurfing and it is the area between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. There is an island called a lobo which means the wolf in English. I walked all the way along with speech and I sat with the Kitesurf as there are a lot of them there maybe over 100. When it’s windy and it can be a very windy place I stayed at the Riu treasure is Les hotel which is at the end of the beach going south. It was okay but it’s really a hotel for Rich retired people the drinks are very expensive and at night they play very loud 80s type music. You know YMCA Boney M. all that stuff we’ve heard 1 million times before a good JDJ listens to the music this year and plays the best music this year old stuff for old people please, the food is all buffet there it is a bit hit and miss if it’s fresh or not I had some salmon that made my stomach feel a bit strange but if you stick to the salads you should be okay it is a moneymaking business. Just remember that they are there to make as much money out of you as they possibly can so this hotel looks along the beach there. It is almost in front of the sea. I don’t know how they got permission to build it so close to the sea I wouldn’t of thought they would give permission today and it is expensive. It is from €145 a night 2/200 and the night I wanted to stay there, they wanted nearly €300 but it’s not worth that, you can go to the other side of the island till two Elkorn, call Tio and Pay about €30.

so glad we walked south from our hotel and into the park there is very little there just masses of sand dunes, beaches and sea with the odd building. On our first trip we found a little area of man made shelters just after the surf school. you can lounge in them and then take a dip but be careful the sea can be very powerful and drag you about.
The whole area is open to nudism but we found unlike the northern part which was predominantly males this was mixed nice.
We visited twice but would quite happily have spent more time there as sometimes we were just the only people for as far as they eye could see.

This area could hold hidden Dangers
There are no facilities here and certainly towards the north the sea currents are very confused.
There is a big Surf School here further South towards the hotels. There are also some nice coves as you drive South,
Some rock shelters have been constructed, very private!

Our visit was with family, including four children aged 2 - 11 years old. It was a lovely day out!
We caught the bus from Corralejo (no charge for the children and €1.40 per adult). The journey itself was no longer than 10 minutes. The bus drops you right outside a Hiperdino (supermarket chain) which is very handy if you have forgotten to pack anything or if you didn’t want to lug snacks and drinks with you. There is a bar next door to the Hiperdino too.
The beach has a large range of sun beds however I’m unsure as to whether these can be used by the public for a fee or whether they are currently in use due to the pandemic. There is also a public toilet just off the beach too.
The sand, sea and views are absolutely stunning. It was such a clean beach with soft sand and clear water. It’s the perfect environment for making sandcastles with kids too!
The views are stunning. You can see across to Lanzarote. On one side you have the beautiful stretching sea and on the other you have volcanic mountains.
I would highly recommend visiting!

Excellent for swimming and sunbathing with lots off beautiful coastline to walk . You can get sun loungers 9euro with parasols to shade . There are people walking the beach selling cold drinks and excellent toilets on the beach also. A Taxi rank is located by the hotel so you can get back to Corralejo for 8euro and if you are into naturist sunbathing the right hand side off the beach caters for this which is well away from the main area but also has sun loungers etc.

We were very fortunate and we spent 5 weeks (Nov/Dec) in the Riu Place Tres Islas, which is situated on the Grandes Playas of Corralejo and overlooked the Natural Park.
The awesome Park is a protected area and it poccupies 11 kilometres (7 miles) along the eastern coastline of Fuerteventura.
The roadway FV1a, from Corralejo, passes directly through the Park with the massive sand dunes on one side and incredible beaches on the other.
It is also possible to drive in the opposite direction, though the Park, from Parque Holandes to Corralejo, this gives a different aspect.
A drive along the road is one way to see and experience the Park. But the best way is to park up along the roadside, ample parking, and go for a hike across the dunes.
The mountainous terrain surrounding the Park enhance the sheer expanse and grandure of the region. The majestic Montaña Roja is also a feature of the Park.
It was a real treat to watch the sunset over the Park from our balcony window.
As the Park is a protected region a number of activities are not permitted, these are displayed on noticeboards along the roadside

Large beach & sanddunes, some parts have sunbeds but mostly large expance of fine sand. Can sometimes be windy, on a good day it's ideal for sunbathing & swimming. Good for kitesurfing etc.

Are there sun loungers and umbrellas on Parque Natural between the 2 Rui hotels?
Written 6 April 2023
No , there are issues with sun loungers through the area and the local authority has withdrawn any rights to the beach areas of bars and restaurants for tables and chairs, demolished the Wind surf bar completely and are constantly patrolling the coastline to ensure that establishments comply with the strict regulations now being enforced .
Written 7 April 2023
There wasn't any at Christmas, except outside Waikiki. Hopefully they will get it sorted soon. The elderley cannot rise up from the beach. It's lost them a lot of travellers.

Erm only at the far end near the part of the beach where you can see the Rui hotel, there is a shower and loos, very clean and fine, but that is the only ones on this stretch, i assure you, if you go on the number 2 bus, it drops you beside the shop, and when you walk up towards the dunes beach, you will see the loos etc

Hallo

Hello, I would like to ask you about wheelchair on this trip. My dad is independent on the wheelchair, but still, is this one day trip worth for him? Many thanks
Written 7 December 2018
Thanks for contacting. This is a natural park which is dessert on one side of the Highway and a beach on the other side of the road. So this is not park to sit/picnic. It is sand/dessert.
I would not recommend wheelchair in there....However you can park the car on the side of the highway (marked areas) which are safer.
Hope this is helpful
