- Ashtonian1954Wigan, United Kingdom30,614 contributionsA few days in the BuffVisited Corralejo for a short 5 day break so a visit to this beach was a must There are now plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas but it is 9 euro for 2 beds and 1 parasol which comes as a package. The beds go about 150 yards past the lifeguard station no 2 and that is where the naturism begins. The area in front of the Olivia Beach was a bit noisy for me as it was school holidays and there were a lot of excitable children Past the sun beds was fairly quiet with both naturists and surprisly many clothed people. We were lucky the wind was low, the skies were clear and the sea was not too rough. There are now two small beach bars selling expensive snacks and another two under construction. We got our snacks from the Hiperdino after getting off the 1.4 euro bus from CorralejoVisited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 January 2024
- Shaun LClanfield, United Kingdom2,844 contributionsBeach within the sand dune natural parkUsually access the Grande Playas via the road between the two big RIU hotesl which has a fair amount of car parking. The waves here are usually moderate making it a pretty safe beach with glorious sand. Lifeguards situated along the beach make it a pretty decent family beach. Couple of beach bars back now and also sunbeds for hire.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 March 2024
- David DDevon, United Kingdom27,183 contributionsSpectacular for so many reasonsSunday 4th February and we walked along the beachfront from Corralejo to our Hotel, Riu Palace Tres Islas, a distance of about five kilometres. Our walk took us across a number of linked beaches which form the Grandes Playas of Corralejo starting with Playa de Corralejo Viejo at one end to Playa del Viejo by our Hotel. The beaches with their golden sand and undulating dunes are washed by the waves of the erratic Atlantic Ocean. Due to with wind conditions some of the beaches are very popular with wind and kite surfers. It is quiet a spectacular sight to see the sky filled with colourful kites, especially around Flag Beach with it's kite school. On a number of beaches there are man-made stone circles, known as corralitos, which provide sunbathers with shelter from the winds that sweep across the beaches. In places along the beaches there are areas where there was a wilderness and deserted feel with only us there. There are sunbeds and umbrellas to rent on a couple of the larger beaches but nothing on the smaller ones. There are places where the black lava, golden sands and the ocean meet to create a beautiful landscape. It really was a wonderful experience walking along the beaches, amazing scenery with the mountains in the background and views of Lobos Island. From our Hotel balcony there were great views of the beachesVisited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 April 2024
- Lynette B19 contributionsBest Beach in CorralejoHands down the best beach in Corralejo. Known to some as the Dunes this beach is beautiful. It's immaculate. Golden sand for miles and the sea water is on a other level. It's like paradise. Turquoise waters with great waves to jump. We visited today and there's now a cafe and a pop up bar selling drinks of all kinds, food and ice creams. Not the cheapest but certainly well needed on the beach. We paid €10 including tip for a taxi to and from the beach from our accommodation. 100% worth a visit.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 April 2024
- Louise RLiverpool, United Kingdom129 contributionsBeautiful beach amazing viewsAmazing beach and sand - lots of availability of sunbeds and brollies it was 9 euros for 2 beds and a brolly. Taxis too and from are frequent. From Corralejo to Grande playa was 8 euros each way . Definitely worth a visit.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 August 2024
- eleanorSwinton, United Kingdom70 contributionsBeautiful beachStunning beach! Beautiful crystal clear blue waters and soft sand and so so clean. It was great seeing all the wind surfers out. Stretches of natural beach but there a certain areas where you can get a sunbed and brolly if you don't like lying on the sand, we got two sunbeds and a brolly for €9. There are a few beach bars and a Hyperdino supermarket 10/15 minutes walk away. Be warned there is a nudest area which you may pass walking to get to this beach, it didn't bother us but I know some people with children will want to avoid.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 August 2024

We got a taxi to the area and rented 4 sunbeds for €18 in between the two RIU hotels. Although the waves meant that we couldn't do much swimming, we had fun playing with the waves, making use of the volleyball net, playing in the sand and just enjoying the views There are a couple of snack bars, toilets and showers to make use of We went to the beach near Corralejo town a couple of days later, which admittedly was more child friendly due to the calmness of the waves and more variety of local shops/bars etcVisited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 August 2024

My favourite beach in all the world! Stunning very long expanse of white/golden sand. There are lifeguard huts at regular intervals along the beach. The winds are strong here so the yellow flag is often flying and sometimes the red flag. You don't often see the green flag, so it might not suit people who love swimming in the sea - I just go paddling.
Juts returned home after our first visit since the pandemic. The beach has lost its sunbeds for hire, and the cafe seems to have disappeared as well. But there are toilets on the beach between the two hotels.
If you are not staying at one of the the RIU hotels then there is boardwalk access from the road approaching the Tres Islas, with free parking.

Search for Playa Alzada in Google maps, it's a perfect family beach on South of Hotel Riu (around 3-4kms further south from Grandes Playa) are much better with aquamarine water.
Playita del Poris is further 2kms down south from Playa Alzada and has Turquoise blue water, issue is car park space along the road is limited so you need to either come early or little late in the day.
Will prefer both these beaches any day Vs Grandes Playa which is very crowded & a social distancing nightmare during pandemic times.
Both these beaches are much better than overcrowded and overhyped Grandes Playa

Fabulous stretch of clean sand and crystal clear sea well deserving its blue flag status. This is one of the best beaches we have ever visited however the sunbeds and umbrellas which makes the beach accessible for all ages have been removed. We are two relatively fit 60 odd year olds but we have to say having no sunbeds or brollies was a real problem. Laying down on the sand is not really an option for us. We travelled as a family and with a toddler. Carrying beach chairs, parasols, water, toddler etc etc was exhausting and had we known about the lack of facilities we probably wouldn't have booked this holiday.
We cannot understand why they have removed. There is a wooden walk way with a covered area at the end for wheelchair access and a little supermarket twixt the two hotels. There is lifeguard supervision which is essential as the currents are strong here. You cannot swim when red flags are showing and only with care when the yellow flags are flying.
This is a stunning beach but has NO facilities and this truly makes a difference.

Absolutely stunning beach. It goes on for miles. The sand is fine and beautiful. Also, the taxi stand was close to the beach and which made it easier. The lifeguard cabins raise a flag everyday or change it if needed to show if it is ok to swim. On the day the red flag was up, we even saw lifeguard whistling and asking people not go for a swim, as it was very windy and the ocean currents were very strong. Follow the advise and keep safe.
A small tip, if you do not find any taxis at the taxi stand, pop into Riu Hotel and ask reception to order it for you rather than waiting for hours.

This beach is stunning with golden sand and clear water. The sea can sometimes be gentle, sometimes a little rough and we caught it like both on our recent visits.
There are no sun beds or umbrellas so if you need shade, you absolutely must take your own. If you plan to eat while you’re there, you will need to take your own food and drink as the restaurant/beach bar between the two big hotels has closed down during covid lockdown which is a shame.
It is very clean though with lifeguards present so it felt safe too.

Lovely beach but no longer have any sun loungers or umbrellas which is not ideal when you have young kids. Very windy down the beach anyway so if you brought a tent or your own umbrella it’s likely to fly away like ours did. Not ideal for grandparents to sit on the floor.

Fabulous beaches with amazing turquoise colour water, endless walks on white sand and brave waves. Red flag is not uncommon due to strong wind so bathing forbidden those days, be aware.
Beautiful car drive from the South entering natural reserve from Parque del Holandes and easy parking around the two only hotels on the beach.
I prefer the more predictable Sotavento beach in Pajara area for swimming in particular, but Grandes Playas areas is a absolute wonder to enjoy if visiting Fuerteventura

The beach is on the edge of the dunes about 2-3 miles from the centre of corrajelo. There is a regular bus that goes past the top of the beach road (you would need the bus to Puerto del Rosario) or a taxi will cost about 6-7 euros. It is well worth the trip there is a supermarket, cafe and restaurant
