Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you have time this Museum is worth visiting for around 20 to 30 mins. As others have said although small, there were interesting historical exhibits of items found in the region centuries BC.
There was also a lovely library upstairs which would offer nice respite from any crowds or the sun. Note it's closed 2 to 4 pm.

Firstly the building itself, beautifully and faithfully restored from the ruins. It's called La Casa del Apero, and it was originally the building that housed, maintained and repaired the agricultural equipment for the nearby palace of the Dukes of Marique, now El Ingenious, the last functioning molasses factory in Europe. From the patio you can climb to two miradors with impressive views. Then inside the building you have the tourist information desk and beyond it, the archeological museum which traces the village history back to Paleolithic times. Stil on the ground floor is an exhibition space with displays of local interest. Upstairs are the village library and a room to house temporary exhibitions usually lasting around four weeks, and often showing work by local artists.

A small but perfectly formed local museum, with a modern, attractive layout in a beautiful old building. Some very interesting prehistoric finds from the nearby caves. Will probably only take you around 20min to look around, but it is FREE. Also doubles as the information centre, so we picked up some maps, directions to el castillo and lunch ideas.

the small free museum offers insight to archeological finds in caves near Frigiliana.
a small booklet is for sale describing walks both in the rocky river gorge below frigiliana : Rio Higueron and on the rocky paths on the steep craggy rocks above the Rio Higueron.
on my visit in january the lavender and rosemary was already in bloom and plenty of butterflies and bees.
at only 15min from nerja by bus (1 euro) this is a great staring point for walks.

Frigiliana is one of several white villages in the hills behind the Costa Tropical and about 30 kms from Malaga. It is an easy short trip by car from Ls Herradura or Almuñécar. It is more or less a hilloip village of some white houses and narrow streets from as early as the 16th century and many more narrow streets dating from the 1980s, 1990s and later built for British, Scandinavian, Dutch and others who want a place in the sun away from the beaches. If you are thinking of buying real estate it may be a good place to start. If you are looking for a break from the lapping of the waves this may be a good place to go for coffee or tea. There is a Disneyworld toy train that takes visitors on a 30 minute visit of the village and tour buses seem to drop anchor every 30 minutes to disgorge their 30 to 40 pax for the train ride and a visit to the aseos before wandering on. It is a good starter kit for those considering buying or living in Andalucia. Worth seeing, worth going to see-depends.

The museum is amazing! The artefacts are astounding! It is a very interesting place where people can learn lots about the very lost in time past of frigiliana. I won't reveal too much but there is also an amazing hall of beautiful art and a lovely lookout point and roof terrace. Go there! It's free!

Went here with our guide in frigiliana. Plenty of the history of frigiliana and well worth a visit when you are there.
