Lovely selection of Port wines with great chocolate too. Good service and well presented. I'd suggest an LBV with some dark chocolate as my personal preference

My husband and I visited Porto this January and Casa Kopke was the first Port tasting we did. We did a two tastings, totally 4 wines and 6 ports. We wanted to get a good lay of the land, and this was accomplished! We didn't...More

When we were tasting Ports, looking for some to take home, we ofcourse didn't want to skip Kopke. When coming in we asked the reception if they did tastings. The girl sitting there kinda threw a list with prices in front of our nose and...More

My first port wine tasting in Porto. The service was wonderful, the presentation and education on the tastings were wonderful, as we're the chocolate pairings. I wasn't a super fan of the wines, but then again, those are always subjective to the person tasting. Worth...More

Kopke port wines are excellent and we have enjoyed them at dinners many times. So it was a cellar we definetly wanted to visit. Still, in comparison to the others, the feeling of the service and hospitality was maybe a bit too professional. Maybe even...More

The choice of pairings was a bit overwhelming for the novice port enthusiast, but we very much enjoyed our port & chocolate pairing. Our table had a window looking out at the river, so we got to watch the fog roll up the river while...More

Kopke is a smaller lodge compared with most in Gaia but it pairs the tasting of ports with chocolate! They have a wide variety of tasting options and we chose to each try a different flight of 5. All were good with the single vintage...More

There are no guide tours but when you select the wines you want to taste, the staff gives you a good explanation of each one. Don't need more than that, especially after already doing a tour in another house where they explain the history. The...More

Nice rooms, efficient and no-nonsense staff will effectively deal with your requests. Good prices. If you stay on the top floor, it's easy to feel a little bit forgotten. Nice place though, with great view of the city and a good selection.

We tried the LBV 2012 Ruby and the Reserva Tawny with black and milk chocolate in a very nice room for 6,70€. They waitress explained the characteristics of both ports and possible blendings. Very good place and service.

Hello from Peter and Valmai Kopke in Western Australia! We are thinking of visiting Portugal in the next year or two and we would, of course, like to visit the Casa Kopke vineyard. Would you please let us know exactly where you are and also make suggestions as to where / places / towns / areas we should stay during our visit? We have been thinking of doing a river cruise and have received a brochure but we want to make sure that we can visit Casa Kopke! Our grandson has just made a most beautifully crafted timber box at school for ornamental presentation of his father's bottle of Kopke port! My husband's grandfather was Frederick Herman Kopke who came out to South Australia from Hamburg in the late 1800's. He later travelled to Western Australia to drill for water and ended up buying a pastoral property (nearly 300,000 acres) 700 miles north of Perth on the coast south of Carnarvon. His son, Alan Frederick Herman Kopke bought the adjoining statio and his grandson, Peter Alan Frederick Kopke, remained there all his working life. We look forward to hearing from you.
