After a brief but interesting walk through the Cálem Bodega with a lot of information on the production process of vinho do Porto, you will experience a nice 45-minute Fado show while you can Taste one white and one red vinho do Porto.

we saw 4 very talented musicians who put on a great show: a Portuguese Guitar player, a classical guitar player, and a male and a female Fado singer. The show was about 40 minutes, I wish it could have gone on longer!

The staff at the venue are very attentive and accommodating. They speak English well and our tour guide gave a very clear and concise summary of the different ports they had and the manufacturing process of each type. I was pregnant and they were nice enough to provide me a juice box for my tastings instead :) The Fado Show was really good but it would have been suffice with just 3-4 songs total. Then there would have been some time for explanations about the ports that were provided for tastings. It also would’ve been good if there was some cheese and olives to go with the crackers on the table.…

If you're a serious wine taster, then this might not be for you as the Fado show is a main attration, not the wine tasting, as the two small wine glasses, without any explanation what you're drinking, would not satisfy the wine tasters. But after brief Calem wine cellar tour, you would sit down in a room with views, thru small circular windows, to the river and the other side, Porto. Try to grab a table to the right side of the stage along the windows. Fado itself lasted about 45 minutes. It is a bit "lighter" - in song selection - Fado that I've heard previously or at other places, but it was very nice. I went there in late January and i was told the show starts at 6:00PM, but when I called to reconfirm (they don't send you what time you should come), I was told to come 15 minutes to the hours to exchange the voucher. When we got there, the front desk lady put down specific time for each event on my ticket for us. Come to Calem at 5:45 PM and visit Museum, then meet them in the lobby at 6:00 PM for English tour. Then at the conclusion of the tour, you would be sitted for the Fado show. The restrooms are right outside of the Museum, to the left of the lobby. The Museum is very nice and you would get a sense of the region and port wines. Your Fado show ticket would let you in for Museum.…

If you don't have time to do a proper port tasting and evening with fado then it's a good option. The tour of cellars is very quick and basic but will give you some insight into port 'world'. You will only see cellars - no production process is shows as its not based on site. We really enjoyed the fado concert :) Would recommend it.…
