Nice woods

I loved the forest trails even more than the famous cascade stairs. The free map isn't clear at all.

Not far from the University city – Coimbra you must go to Buçaco to see one of the most beautiful world forests. After a walk have a drink or a meal in the charming palace hotel. Enjoy!

We really enjoyed walking the grounds of this beautiful forest. It is a real treasure, with rare exotic tress, wonderful walking paths, and there are even so geocaches if you enjoy geocaching ! The grounds surrounding the palace are a must! Allow at least an hour just to walk around if the weather is good.

Walking through the forest was surreal. On the way to Cruz Alta, make sure you pop into the abandoned house by a cross for a great view of the palace and the surrounding mountains.

Such an amazing park for an afternoon hike in the woods, located not far from Coimbra by car. Many beautiful mountain trails and a great variety of trees with spring blossoms offering an experience for the olfactory senses. Unfortunately, a sudden cyclone in 2013 damaged swaths of the park which has left several areas wild and very natural, but makes... More

This was another stop on our drive from Porto towards Lisbon. I found it through a picture I saw on Pinterest of the Fonte Fria, and I decided at that moment I had to see the fountain in real life. If we would have had more time in Portugal, we would have definitely added a night to stay at the... More

Beautiful hotel and castle. Amazing grounds, lovely trails leading to super views over central Portugal. Absolutely worth spending the day here. The trails are extensive, give yourself time to wander. There is so much to see.

We drove through this Forest and past the Palace due to time constraints, but what we did see was absolutely gorgeous. I would say if you have time you could spend hourse exploring.

When we arrived in this location, the weather was rainy so we can not say that we enjoy the ramble. We just walked for about ten minutes but was enough to understand that this is a very beautiful and enormous forest with a lot of different kind of trees. There is also a small lake with some birds. There are... More

This unique complex includes a gorgeous dense forest and a former palace, now converted to a hotel, The forest is very old and home to more than 250 tree and shrub species, including trees of a gigantic stature and exotics plants. It reminds me of the Pena park in Sintra. The romantic palace was designed in an extravagant Neo-Manueline style.... More
