We have visited the Botanical Gardens many times previously. We have visited in the Spring and the flowers are beautiful. We have visited to see the Christmas lights, also very nice. This time we made a special trip to the Lantern Asia. We got there during the daylight hours to see everything prior or the lighting of the lanterns and... More

This is one of the most remarkable outdoor exhibits I have ever seen. Go see it at dusk and or after dark. Watch for dragon eyes at change colors, for ducks that move, learn the difference between a Dragon from China and Thailand and find the small dragons made from medicine bottles. It is worth the drive. Good for all.

The gardens were very nice. It was early in the year so there weren't too many blooms. In the garden, I wish there had been more labeling of the plants. This is a very large garden. You could spend a lot of time walking here seeing new things. The Lanterns Asia project really is best seen at dark which was... More

Wonderful exhibit. Well worth it! There are beautiful lanterns representing the Taj Mahal, the 12 animals of the zodiac, pandas, cherry blossoms, Mt. Fuji, and so many others. We got there at 6 so we could see them in the daylight and as it grew darker, the lanterns came on. They were a marvelous sight.

Didn't want to miss the Lantern Asia show or the Norfolk Botanical Garden (NBG) during my short trip to the Norfolk/VA Beach area. Check the weather and bring layers accordingly. It rained hard during the day I went, but was clear by late afternoon and into the evening. The rain may have kept the crowds down. Everyone could easily move... More

We went at 5 to see the sculptures during the day and went back once it was dark to see them lit up. There was a bit of confusion regarding whether or not reentry was permitted. The gate attendant said no but the ticket sellers said yes. The signs said no. It was a bit confusing. We enjoyed exploring not... More

We spent the entire day at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. First we went trhough the Lantern Asia exhibit to enjoy the fantastic figures. They are made with a metal framework covered with lantern fabric decorated using various techniques. We were able to walk around these figures and appreciate them from different viewpoints while taking all the time we wanted. Figures... More

Wow - the nighttime extravaganza that is temporarily on display at The Norfolk Botanical Garden is beyond words. The beautiful displays combined with the hauntingly beautiful music make for an amazing sensory experience.

Things were just starting to come into bloom after the winter and even the roses were starting to come back. The membership here is really reasonable so we go often and use it as a walking place and we discover something new and special about the place every time.

Really pretty lantern exhibit. Grounds are nice and serene, the terrain is very eastern shore wetland landscape. Surrounded with lantern exhibits, takes the park to another world.
