Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful and peaceful seven acre park located along the Elizabeth river. Several statues, park benches and some eateries. Nice to take a leisure stroll. Well taken care of.

I was in town to do an interview. After the interview, I just wanted a few moments to relax. I asked my Garmin to direct me to the nearest park and this is where I wound up! Worth it. It was relaxing to be near the water, and enjoy the view. Nice even walkways, and clean. That made for a very nice visit. I'll definitely be going back.

They need a better check-in system. It’s no reason that you should have to wait that long to enter a venue when tickets were pre-purchased.

We spent some time in the park just walking around. This was a very nice and clean area just to hang out in. There are some great views of the harbor and of the many of ships coming in, docked and going out. Nice place to relax!

While walking around downtown I ventured into the park and walked down the trail from there along the Elizabeth River. It's certainly not as scenic as the Ocean View neighborhood where you can see the bay, but it's still pleasant to look out over the river (if a little unnerving to be so close to humongous warships!).
The park itself felt somewhat small completely unremarkable. I would come back here for an event though it might be cramped for a large festival. Otherwise I would only see myself visiting for a couple of minutes before walking off along the river again.
Side note - there is NO public parking, not even for a fee. So you'll need to walk from a parking garage.

This event is classically sold out every year. I was thrilled to get delayed entry 5pm tickets for $15. Well...the event closes at 7pm. I had to stand in line when I got there at 5pm to get in. I brought $24 in cash with me. Special event parking is $10. That left me with $14 dollars for tacos. Yeah...not really. Even though advertised as tacos available "for just $3 (sold separately)," in actuality-there was a $15 food ticket minimum. That calculates out to 5 tacos, not my usual taco consumption at any one sitting. The lines at the taco trucks were long. The festival ticket included a free beer or margarita. After mulling around the taco trucks, trying to decide if I should pull money from the bank truck set up, I decided no tacos and started to head towards the margarita stands where I waited in the heat for 1.5 hours. The margarita was delicious, made to order in front of me. On the way out of the festival, I noticed that the taco ticket sellers were still holding out for the minimum purchase even though no one was buying. So I went to the 2018 Norfolk Taco Festival and left without tasting the duck taco I was craving, but I got the margarita which was already sweated out before I left through the gates. It was one expensive margarita. My lemonade resolution? I bought 3 authentic tacos from Nico's Taqueria on Holland Road in Virginia Beach for $2.50 each-one fish, one chicken and one steak. Later in the week, I went to Striper's in Waterside, Norfolk and purchased their duck tacos as an appetizer. Moral of the story: 1)Go early to festivals. The lines are shorter. 2) Food truck selections are not cheap. Bring at least $15 cash per person to cover the cost of one of their lower priced menu items or a festival's minimum purchase requirements that were a surprise. 3) Skip the late entry option, consider it a lesson learned about getting tickets early. It was 6:30pm by the time I was able to get my drink. Yum.

Over the years, I have spent a lot of time at this park. As a sophomore at ODU, I worked at the Flagstand inside the mall. It was always a bustling place with a lot of shops and restaurants. The park is where the annual Harborfest is held. It’s a great spot for both outdoor music concerts and the annual Harborfest. As a word of caution, bring a lawn chair for the outdoor music concerts.

there was nothing special going on here at the time, but a nice place. Beautiful lawn, nice sidewalks right on the river, plenty of bench's and a nice cool breeze on a hot day, great views.

Took a Sunday stroll alongside the water as we watched the boats go by. The park offers many place to sit including a few wicker couches!! There is a water fountain for children to run thru in the hot weather and a few games on the lawn for anyone to enjoy. Hula hoops, cornhole, etc. . There are restaurants indoors and outdoors. The newest attraction is a huge ferriswheel that operates all day and evening. There is also a ferry boat that will take you to Portsmouth that runs frequently. Overall, Town Point Park is a wonderful inviting place to visit in Norfolk.

Is there a place in Norfolk where a family can hold a cookout within the vicinity of the waterfront?
Written 21 December 2015
Unfortunately, none that I know of unless you go up to the Ocean View section of Norfolk and have something on the beach by the bay.

What times are the tours of the Naval Base?......and what days do they have the tours???
Written 27 August 2015
I believe that, due to security considerations, tours onboard the Naval Station have been discontinued.
You can, however, take the Victory Rover out of Town Point Park/Nauticus which sails past the base and you can see the ships from that vantage point.
Hope that this helps.
