A perhaps surprising oasis of cultural excellence on a small, mainly rural, Greek island.

A boldly varied cultural oasis (along with several others in Andros Town) which usually offers two exhibitions a year. Over the years it has put on world class shows (Rodin, Miro, Henry Moore, Picasso etc etc) and continues to do the best it can in difficult financial times. The permanent exhibition is interesting and includes fine examples of the work... More

The Museum (actually there are two, opposite each other), is the brainchild and also patrons, of a local family, Goulandris, and since it was created it has elevated the island as an Art Centre for both Greek but also foreign visitors. The two buildings are just a few steps down from the small busy square at the end of the... More

Although I am not a contemporary art lover, I think that this museum is interesting. Most of the exhibits of the permanent exhibition could be "approached" by a not contemporary art fanatic.

Interesting museum with permanent exhibits and new ones every year. Though I am not a modern art lover, I was impressed by this one. Very well kept and presented.

One of the best and well kept art museums in Greece. Check every summer for different exhibitions. One reason to visit Andros is this museum.

Nicely laid out, tasteful building- near the museum of modern art also. Good example of modern cycladic architecture- fits in well with the tradiitonal buildings surrounding it.

Everyone who visits Andros should visit the Goulandris Museum of Contemporary Art at the chora of Andros island. We visited the museum early at the afternoon and it was an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to see the exhibition of the Man Ray artist which was amazing. Definitely worth visiting

The left side as you look towards the sea contains a numbers of interesting sculptures, both modern and classical by Tombras as well as some contemporary pieces. The right building, the larger one was closed to visitors because they were preparing from the annual special exhibition of... More
