Great Historical place

This museum has something for everyone. Then just seeing an actual piece of the Monitor is an unforgettable experience. Many interactive activities will keep everyone in your group entertained.

The Monitor's turret is being restored here. Artifacts and a full size replica is on site. It is very impressive.

A Must See for Civil War and Nautical History Buffs

Not only can you view the conservation lab containing the tanks holding the Monitor turret and guns, the displays educate you in all aspects of the USS Monitor and CSA Virginia (Merimak). Fun for the whole family.

This is part of the Mariners Museum. Shows the transformation from wood and sailing ships to the Ironclads. A must for history buffs.

A Great Look Into the Past

The Monitor Center inside the Mariners' Museum is an excellent exhibit! It is a wonderful wealth of information and the room where the turret and other parts of the ship are being cleaned is so interesting. The whole history unfolds in this exhibit.
