We spent several hours here exploring all the exhibits. My daughter loved the aquarium exhibits, while my son enjoyed the animal exhibits. Half of the exhibits are inside, and half are outside, so if you are visiting, make sure it is a warmer day so you can see everything. The price is a bit steep and the reason I rated... More

Been several times. It's like the first time all over again for my 2.5-year-old son each time we go.

So much to do here from the special exhibit on dogs/wolves (which was fascinating), the aquarium, touch tanks featuring a variety of crabs, cave-type settings and outdoor natural areas. We had a great time. Our kids loved it. For the outdoor areas, my one beef is the fences used to separate the animals felt a little depressing. A nice upgrade... More

Enjoyed this museum tremendously, going thru the the exhibits was fun. All the children seemed to enjoy the playroom they could explore as a vet. Walking on the outdoor path was very peaceful. The touch tanks very nice to feel the creatures. My daughter loved watching the employees feed the animals.

Any quality museum is going to be a little pricey. This showplace is top notch for family fare. In addition to a pair of looping pathways outside, there are really nice showcases and aquariums inside. All animals that can be found in Virginia's wild lands and along the waterways are present in this one location. Come early as temperatures coupled... More

Since our grandchildren are on the young side (6, 4 and 1 1/2), some of the inside exhibits were more for older children. But they did enjoy the aquarium area and the hands-on area. Outside was perfect as it included just enough animals on a circular walkway. We especially liked the dinosaur area. We probably finished in an hour and... More

Our favorite area is the ocean. We like the sharks and sea turtle. It is very peaceful. The price is affordable for families and every few months they have different educational displays. We've learned about different types of animal poop lol. We live near by and visit several times a year.

I love the VLM. So great that we can see all these lovely animals in this wonderful natural habitat. I love the otters and the beavers. They are so silky and pretty. My children loved the dinosaur exhibit that was here. It was perfect. They will also help w your sick wild animals if you find one. Buy the membership... More

This has a lot of variety and something for everyone. Kids loved the interactive displays and getting to touch some animals. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as a planetarium. Great way to spend a day for a very reasonable price!
