The Noland Trail is a five mile loop that goes around a man made lake goes by the James river and begins and ends at the Mariner's Museum. It is beautiful in summer and spring and there is a glade of Crepe Myrtle if you can find it, which is a little off the beaten path.

Well maintained trail over hills and around lake and along the James River. Perhaps 14 bridges and 1/2 mile stone mile markers. Plenty of people but also sections of solitude. My friends and I go at least once a week. It's hilly and full of beautiful views with bridges where we sometimes we feed the turtles, fish and ducks. There are two trails around the lake, one is four miles, the other five. Watch out for roots on the trail so you don't stumble and fall.

I walk the trail at least once a week. It is especially nice to walk after a snowfall. Place is well kept up by volunteers and just a great place to go to get a "walk in the woods" in the midst of Newport News. Recommend highly.

A lot of trail to explore. We had a picnic along the way. A lot of nature to see. There were a lot of hikers and runners. Will go again.

This is a wonderful place to hike, run, or just take a picnic lunch. It's shady and has nice water views.
