Not the kind of place you might want to take a family to learn about history or culture. We went when it was free and I could barely keep interest as a fan of history. Now it costs $5 and its still a snore fest.

This is an impressive little museum well-worth the $5/pp entrance fee. You'll learn all about the indigenous cultures and migrations from Mexico and access innumerable ancient pottery and stone sculptures. A hidden gem for a very poorly protected archeological history of Nicaragua.

Good info (some in English) on the history of the peoples and cultures of this area, and when I was there, a very interesting small exhibit of contemporary art at the back.

A Danish archeologist created this lovely display of pre-Columbian pottery, figurines and other objects near the central plaza. There are helpful signs explaining the local history and significance of the artifacts, in both English and Spanish.

This very small museum was worth it for my mom and I. It gave us a good understanding of some of the history and the archeological digs. It's 5$ and it's next to the chocolate museum.

From the street through the giftshop you are already in. Would be great to have more pieces and more information about the native american heritage of Nicaragua. There is also a mini contemporary exhibition area at the back, worth an extra 10-15mins.
