The best time to visit is in winter (December, January, February), which is freezing in Pyin Oo Lwin (May Myo) at that time. However, if you'd like to get away from cities in summer, it will also be great because during that time, the weather is neither cold nor hot, but I don't recommend to go there in the rainy season. On the nice spot in the garden, you can have a picnic especially near the lake and it's a big compound, so the children would be so happy to play and run around. Furthermore, there are various kinds of animal species that you'll feel like you're in another world.
Moreover, the flower festival is held from December to January in the National Garden, so you'll see various kinds of flowers in one place. Only one problem - crowded with people and it is a bit of nightmare to get through many people in the festival.
In addition, can get hundreds of photos with a breathtaking views.

Unlike some of Myanmar attractions it is clear that the entrance fee goes right back into the gardens here.

Really nice place to relax and read. Go see the butterfly exhibition - that was great.

There's restaurants here and drinks vendors.

It's clear that this is a popular domestic tourist attraction

I went there with family. Walking in the garden streets is my best time there. They have just a very little seasonal flowers to see..It seems this garden doesnt need to be attractive anymore..may be because very few visitors are interested going there nowadays.

A lovely 400 acre park, that is landscaped with care and has lovely with black and white swans. They have a large walk through aviary with hornbills and a good variety of other birds. the butterfly museum is interesting. A terrific place for a picnic.

One of the highlights of our visit. We enjoyed the opportunity to meet some local families and also observe a large group of college students dancing in one of the meadows.

Very peaceful way to spend 2-3 hours, stroll leisurely through the park. Pretty flowers, large butterfly collection (not live). Meager orchids when we were there. Look carefully for nature's surprises (see the walking stick picture on the leaf!) nice place for a picnic. Not crowded, not remarkable but very nice.

Not only did we enjoy the gorgeous flower beds but the people were delightful. They were so friendly and wanted pictures of us together. We climbed up the tower and had a spectacular view of the area. The gardens are very well maintained and the entire area is so peaceful. There are swans swimming on the lake and there is a display on butterflies, fossils and petrified wood. This is a must see in Pyin Oo Linn

The gardens are nice for a walk if you have some time to spare in Pyin Oo Lwin. However not worth a special trip to this city. More important information! Inside the gardens we read that this former national park is owned by the Htoo group of fabulously wealthy tycoon Tay Za. He is a supporter of the military generals, target of US and EU sanctions. That's were your money ( 7000 kyat entrance fee for foreigners) goes to when you visit the botanical gardens.

A lovely green national park and groomed botanical garden in the quiet hill station town of Maymyo/Pyin Oo Lwin. Lovely to spend an afternoon there after the long drive from Mandalay, especially if you've been around the hectic markets and traffic of Mandalay or the heat of Pagan. My husband was feeling rather rough after whatever he ate somewhere so we spent a tranquil and delightful afternoon here. We loved it and it helped him feel better stolling by the manicured flower beds and perfect grass lawn overlooking the pretty lake listening to the birds sing and looking for orchids. No monkeys, if you can believe it for an Asian park! If you do come off the beaten path up to Maymyo from Mandalay in Shan State, I would not miss this park, its worth it. You'll find the ubiquitous viewing tower at one end of the park, although an eye-sore, it does offer great views over the Shan Hills from up top. There are also places to get refreshments and golf carts to drive you around if you like. Posh!
