We purchased advanced tickets which I would suggest to anyone planning on visiting and taking a tour of the house. You bypass the ticket line and go right to the line where you enter the house. Also spend the money on the Premium tour, we...More

Significant not for it's size or architecture but whose it was . . . George Washington. Gives you a new perspective on the man, his culture, life, and humbleness.

General Washington to President Washington, this home was his sanctuary. Walk the floors that he walked, enjoy the same view from his back porch that he did. A Place that can make anyone feel patriotic, even if they are not American.

I loved Mt. Vernon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave lots of good information and you really learn a lot about George Washington, his family, and his home. Would definitely recommend. Also fairly easy to get there using public transit.

We have made several family trips to Mount Vernon and it's always been pleasant. The staff are very accommodating and we have even attended a military graduation that was celebrated here. I would advise going on a dry day since there are many dirt trails...More

We've visited all of the Presidential Museums but one and our view was that this was every bit as good as those that are the official Presidential Museums. Like many other Presidential Museums, Washington's home is there, he and his wife are buried there and...More

Great historical tour of the country farm estate of our first President George Washington. Very informative, impressive and inspirational. Grand sweeping views of the Potomac off the front porch. Impressive farming, fishing, sewing, gardening, management and merchandising of goods for sale and self-sustaining for this...More

We decided to go to Mt. Vernon during the Revolutionary War Days weekend re-enactment and it was completely packed! I would have given this place 5 stars had it not been for the incredibly large crowd in attendance. We didn't even get to see the...More

After asking a previous question, I have since learned that I can take a connector bus from the Huntington Metro that will drop me off in front of the Mount Vernon Visitors Center. Does anyone know how often these buses run at what time their first and last stops are?

You can take the Fairfax Connector bus from a Greyhound bus station in Alexandria, VA. or other Fairfax County locations. I believe Route #152 would be the one nearest the Greyhound station, but then I have never ridden that... More

Thoughts on the educational add-on programs? We are taking fifth graders for a field trip, and want to do the "Farmer Washington" program. How interactive is it? SOME students involved? MOST students involved? ALL students?
