We went to George Washington's Mount Vernon at the end of the day. We did tour the mansion and walked around the estate for a little bit. We did see the slave quarters and the blacksmiths shop. We missed the gardens and not sure what...More

A couple issues do not reduce the overall impressiveness of this site. The grounds are vast. Expect to walk a lot to see all there is to see. The interpretive docents are excellent and enthusiastic. The mansion tour is a fairly quick walk through -...More

Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL Cannot imagine living in George Washington's time. The bricks on the ground were interesting. The gift shop carries their own George Washington beer. All three are different. The George's beer was very good. They have whiskey too. Did not buy that.

The Mount Vernon mansion and grounds are quite lovely. We spent over 4 hours there and could have stayed longer. A little disappointed in the mansion tour. Had an 11:00 time but had to wait at least 15 minutes, then felt rushed through the rooms....More

No dress code that I saw. I would imagine that shoes and shirts are required.

As far as I know, there will be only one photo op from the boat. That would be the front of the mansion. As for the boat, I know nothing. We took the DCTrails bus tour with Charles Smith
