We visited Middleburg with friends on a rainy day. This is a great place to stroll the Main Street stopping to shop in the antique and gift stores. We found the shop keepers to be very friendly and felt quite welcome as we browsed around the businesses. Because Middleburg is the epicenter of hunt country in the U.S., horses, hounds... More

This town has managed to fend off development and retain its 1800's look despite urban sprawl all around it. A walk through town takes you back in history as the buildings date from the late 1700's, and the folks still greet you with that Southern charm. Stop in the Red Fox Inn for lunch and feel as if you have... More

I love the hostess at the Pink Box and love looking at the old books with Jackie Kennedy and the kids riding in Middleburg. Love the history here and the brochures there. Great place to stop in and chat, learns lots from the hostess.

A beautiful drive in the country to this charming little town. Stone houses and rock walls reminded me of Scotland. Lots of unique shops and restaurants. A great day trip while in the area. Only problem was that the restaurant picked from online list was closed that day, but we easily found another one. The onstreet parking meters were a... More

I have heard about the town a while ago but I never set my time for a visit. Middleburg is about one hour drive from Washington D.C. on Hwy 50. The town is known as "horse country". The center of town is very small with a few blocks west and east and two other streets parallel to the main street... More

Middleburg is a wonderful, historic destination less than an hour's drive from Dulles on route 50. We drove from Dulles for a couple days to relax before driving on to Fredericksburg. It is a beautiful little scenic town, amidst a gorgeous countryside of wineries, excellent restaurants, farms, shops, and history. There is a year-round German Christmas shop and the Ayrshire... Drove to Middleburg EARLY to try to find a parking space since last year dealing with the park and shuttle was a fiasco and just plain stunk! Trying to deal with the parking and the shuttle, I wound up missing the hunt parade - which was really all I wanted to see. The Hunt parade is indeed an absolute delight.... More

This is a easy, fun day out from DC. The drive is not great, but once you have parked it's ideal. We went to see an art show at the Sporting Museum - lovely museum, terrific show (unfortunately the show closes this weekend) and charming, helpful people. We then wandered the town - very manageable. Lots of charming little shops... More
