I take my dog walking on this trail quite frequently. We have seen turtles, squirrels, and deer. The trail is well maintained, but a bit secluded in areas. Because of the secluded areas, I recommend walking with a friend or bringing your dog on the walk. While it seems very safe, there is no way to guarantee safety when walking... More

The Dick & Willie Passage Rail Trail is a 4.5 mile long trail that runs through Martinsville, VA, and has two spur trails: the Silverbell Trail will take you up to the Piedmont Arts on Starling Avenue and the Uptown Connection Trail that will bring you up to Uptown and the Heritage Museum. It is an asphalt trail, reasonably level,... More

This is a fantastic trail system for walking or biking. There is a bike barn nearby for you to " borrow" a bike if you need to. About 1/2 of the trail is shaded making it great!

Parents & kids all rode bikes on this trail. Trail is beautiful & well maintained. I wish it was longer, maybe eventually!

My husband and I were traveling with our two dogs. We were looking for something to do with them. This was ideal! Who would have expected such a beautiful trail in downtown Martinsville. Get out and walk the trail!

The 4.5 mile paved trail is a beautiful retreat from the day to day. It is fairly level for the light walkers and bikers. There are plenty of resting spots along the way. The people are always friendly. There are many access points which makes it easy to access. After learning the sections of the trail, you can easily determine... More

The city of Martinsville should be extremely proud of these trails. What a great way of using old, unused railroad tracks. Even for someone who grew up here or who lived here all their life, this gives you a very unique perspective on the town.

This is trail is safe in some parts however other parts are dangerous for walkers. There have been several reported crimes on the trail. If you do decide to travel take a partner mad pepper spray.

The Dick & Willie is a great trail for those wanting to get some miles in without running around in circles at a track. If you do the whole thing-to include spurs you can get approximately 10 miles. It is paved which is nice, 4 restrooms available along trail-3 portapotties and 1 actual bathroom with toilets/sinks. During the summer months... More
