This museum has the best fossil display of the places I have been lately. Yes, the exhibits are few. But the building has a library and many labs with people available to answer questions. Plenty of interactive exhibits and seating invite families to linger. Cafe...More

This was a surprise that I did not know we had in So. VA. They have some great fossils and minerals to see. We played with a wooden dinosaur fossil "puzzle" for awhile. There are other learning activities available on other days that we did...More

I was truly amazed to find this venue tucked away in Martinsville. Until I purchased a Groupon to visit I didn't know it existed. My GPS took me to their old site so I had to go "vintage" and follow road signs to find the...More

This is a beautiful place but I must say that exhibits are few and far between. I honestly expected a little bit more for such a large and amazing area.

There were nice displays of dinosaurs and other critters found in Virginia. Plus you could also observe labs for paleontology and archaeology. My favorite displays were in the "Uncovering Virginia" gallery. The Grundy and Saltville exhibits were most interesting to me. Saw other families visiting...More

This is a small museum that covers a lot about Virginia history. My kiddos were disappointed there weren't a lot of dinosaur exhibits. There's still plenty to see and it was an educational glimpse of Virginia history, people and culture.

Have been several times with the grandchildren. They absolutely love anything dealing with dinosaurs or anything prehistoric. The exhibits are changed frequently to keep everything "fresh" and inviting for anyone coming. Excellent opportunity to learn and marvel over these amazing creatures and everything else that...More

There were a few very interesting exhibits. The museum was smaller than I expected and the layout is really odd. If you have an hour to kill it is worth it. It also has a little cafe and a gift shop.
