The staff is helpful Call before you go as many times the office has been closed. They continue to search & have civil war vets headstones placed to properly honor those that fought.

Paying homage to our forefathers It was a kind of family reunion since a few generations of my partners' ancestors find their final rest in this cemetery. Since I always liked to wander around in a graveyard, this little excursion was very relaxing and also...More

I didn't actually visit this cemetery to find Southern generals although one closely related to my family is buried here, but I was surprised to find there are several Confederate generals buried here, e.g. Early and Garland, considering Lynchburg was not that large a city....More

An easy half an hour to see the beautiful headstone and the tidy grounds. Some of the carvings were rather detailed!

Not a large cemetery and notthe fanciest i have visited. Not much greenery or flowers but some beautiful headstones. I had never seen a weeping angel before this one.

There are so many old graves here. This place is full of history. I have lived in Lynchburg for years and just visited with friends of mine. We walked through. It was a great surprise..

As a lover of cemeteries, for awhile this one was considered a hidden gem and it always saddened me that not too many people went to visit it. It has recently started offering tours and has a brochure.

This is an oft overlooked stop for history buffs and cemetery wanderers. LOTS of city pioneers, founders and funerary art. Of particular and poignant concern to this Dixie boy are the many graves of our Southern heroes...amply noted and decorated. Good stop that reminds us...More

There are so few places that look after their old cemeteries these days. This one is currently going through a new renovation. With many stones that date back to the 1800's, this is an interesting and beautiful tour.
