We went to the visitor's center to get some maps and information on where to find ancestral records. The gentleman behind the counter gave us great information on where to access family records from the W & L University Library and the Lexington Courthouse.

A very nice lady at the center will answer any questions you have about Lexington. There's also a small exhibit and many info pamphlets to take.

From the outside it does not look like much, but the inside is packed with useful information and ideas. The staff is also helpful, not "selling".

I have been to this area multiple times but as long as the Red Hen is around I will not be back. Virginia needs to change its slogan as it is no longer true.

Our docent was extremely helpful in triaging our interests and balancing the time we had available with the most impactful suggestions on how to budget our time. Glad we stopped here early during our visit.
