If you ever have a need to travel between MD and VA and you are a bit too north and dont want to drive down and around the beltway, you have to give this a shot. I am not sure if there is another one...More

Take a lunch and sit by the river after you cross. There are picnic tables on the MD side and a little convenience store. So cute

We have done the Ferry a few times and it is something different to do. We have fun exploring when we get to the other side and enjoy the time crossing the river. If you have never been on a ferry try it out.

We just drove over to it one day, and it's just a neat thing to do. The day we went over, the River was covered in fog, though. It looked cool from above, but may not have been on the Ferry.

When I work late in the DC metro area and have to commute home to Leesburg, VA., I take the backroads in MD and take the ferry across the river to get into VA. Its a little longer in distance than the routes I can...More

I live in Leesburg, VA, and use this very infrequently. It's a hoot, though. I think it does get shut down if the river gets iced over. Does not happen a lot.

I know there is a small parking lot there. I would call them and ask. I agree, it would be a great place to park.
