Slow down & travel the way journeys used to go - steady, calm with time to enjoy the view. There can be LONG queues on weekends but otherwise it’s a great way to cross the Potomac River. Fares are not expensive for such a unique...More

The trip is so fast and smooth you hardly know the ferry is moving! It's a fun way to cross the Potomac and definitely a time saver, depending on your destination. High water from heavy rain or the very occasional iced-over Potomac does shut it...More

Love the ease of the ferry but may take longer than just driving to Point of Rocks. Hit the time right and you're into Virginia in less than 15 minutes. Bad timing...took closer to 40!

I cross from Loudoun to Montgomery county fairly often. The ferry itself is nothing special, equivalent to a flat bed truck on water. It's an easy drive once in MD and clearly is a more predictable route timing was to Gaithersburg or Rockville vs the...More

The passage across the river's so smooth, you wouldn't even realize that you're moving. The drive on the way to the ferry terminal is pretty too with lots of greenery. Buy a 2-way ticket if you'd like to have a return trip for a small...More

We biked the C&O Towpath and White’s Ferry is the only crossing of the Potomac River. It makes constant trips, so there is almost no waiting. It is one of the few operating cable ferries in the country. Breakfast at the cafe on the MD...More

Sometimes the traffic on 15 gets heavy and backs up and this ferry is a great way to get around this problem. The cost is cheap and it will save you a bunch of time if you are going to be heading in this direction...More

While on a bike ride on the C&O canal on a very hot day, we ran out of water. How happy we were to find the ticket shop for White's Ferry which also has a small convenience store selling ice cold Gatorade, water and food....More

Take the ferry everyday to go to work...one of the best ride. People are awesome and makes a shorter route for my commute.

The White's Ferry ride was the 2nd item on A Day With Our Granddaughter, after breakfast at I-Hop's. She had never been on a Ferry and was so surprised when we started moving across the river without leaving the car. We've lived in the area...More

the boat stops at 11:00 pm and it has no other schedule. If there are cars or a car on one side, they will come across to get it so you can continue your trip 8.00 dollars round trip.
