Great Old-time Bluegrass show! The "regulars" tie on their tap shoes and dance to the music. Friendly folks; budget friendly concessions and entertainment! Even the kids had fun. Will definitely return when in that area of the country. Nice little museum and cabin to visit before the show.

We had a wonderful evening at the Carter Family Fold. It was an easy drive from Gate City where we were staying. Arrive early so you can tour the museum and then get dinner at the concession stand in the concert hall. The ham sandwiches were delicious and filling and we loved bringing the food to our seats on a... More

Just on my way home from my first and hopefully not last visit to the Fold. On the advise from our B&B host we arrived 45 min before showtime as the act was a well known favorite. We had plenty of time to get settled and eat. Good, inexpensive eats. I had tasty pulled pork. T shirts and cd's available.... More

The Carter Fold is not easy to find. Getting there requires traveling country roads, which is fine during the day, but a bit challenging at night. Regardless it is well worth the effort. As other travelers have mentioned, going to the Saturday night concert, with the old time mountain music, was a treat. We also enjoyed the seeing all of... More

After watching a documentary on the Carter Family we had to come see for ourselves. The music was great! The museum and cabin were excellent. Very pretty and scenic drive from Bristol to Hiltons. Would highly recommend to bluegrass and old time music lovers, and history buffs. Family friendly.

We attended a Saturday night concert and the old time mountain music experience was superb. There was record heat that day and with no A/C it was warm inside. Recommend that you check their website before coming to confirm the band, time and admission charges.

The fold is small. Built on a hillside. We went in the wintertime and was seated high in the bleacher-types right by the overhead heaters. Dressed for winter wasn't exactly comfortable. The show was excellent, featuring Dr. Ralph Stanley ( whom recently passed away), and great gospel singing. We recommend, if your in our area, to visit it the fold.

Went to the annual Family fold this year. A bit off the main highway but was so worth it. For only 20bucks Saturday say many great acts and even learned the 2 step!!

Visiting the Carter Fold was a highlight of our vacation. My husband was there 30 years ago and kept saying he wanted to take me. Took awhile, but it was worth it. It cost only $10 per person and provided one of the best shows I have ever seen. Clean cut, Christian, family friendly.

Such a great evening of cultural entertainment, found only in this part of the country. Family friendly, great history of how country music came to be in the hills of Appalachia, this is a must see if you are in the Bristol, Tri-CIties area. A trip to The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol prior to attending the Carter... More
