We've been coming to this bookstore for years. It is a perfect place to browse for bargains in books. I have found great books on their "Bargain Porch" for a quarter. They offer mostly used books, but also new. They have a great local section with books on local history, national park information, hiking trail maps, etc. They have two... More

I always stop by and look around when I'm in town. A great old time book store tons of used and new books. Be sure to visit with the store cat, she's a sweet heart.

This great bookstore has a bit of everything, and a lot of a lot of things. Lots of romances, history (especially Civil War), mysteries, biographies, fiction, good literature, science, gardening, collectibles... The staff are very helpful and know where to find things in this jam-packed shop. The 25 cent table outside is available 24/7. The new kitty is very friendly.... More

Located right along a main road in Front Royal - this can be easy to miss if you're driving by too fast. However, once you get inside the front door, you won't want to leave if you're a book lover. It has all of the attributes that bibliophiles love: a warren of small rooms, packed with well organized books on... More

In this day of Amazon online book ordering and mega bookstore chains, what is the hope for a small personal, locally focused, caring bookstore that has books that you can't find elsewhere and actually Thumb Through Them to decide before purchasing? This is the place that Amazon can not touch.

This book store has been in Front Royal many years. It is small and jam packed inside. Half is dedicated to new books and half to used books. They are willing to order any book not in the store.

We stopped at Royal Oak Bookshop on our overnight stay in Front Royal. We arrived at 5:30 pm so did not have long to look. Lots and lots of used books in excellent condition. I could have spent hours browsing thru the multiple rooms of books. I picked up 3 books to take to the beach to read. Fun!

Big used bookstore, terrific selection in (as far as I could tell) all categories including sci-fi, and a friendly cat named Willa, just across the street from a great bistro and restaurant (Element, and Apartment 2G respectively).

The Royal Oak Bookshop is a wonderful store that sells used and new books. The shop went on forever, and all the books are nicely laid out and finding different subjects was a breeze. The price of the used books we thought were very reasonable. A must stop if you love books.
