Good for little kids and young families

We took small kids and it was small enough to not have them overly tired. The fact that not as many people go to this one compared to the other one is also good with little kids.

We really liked this, partly because it didn't take so long. It was about an hour and 15. Afterwards the kid went to the dragon maze and they specifically got a staff member to open it for us. Our guide (Meghan I think) was pretty good. She was very knowledgable and keeps it going. I wish she had spoken up... More

Don't be fooled. Luray Caverns may be larger, but honestly, having been to both, I prefer this one. Here you get a guided tour in small groups, great tour guides, lots of detail and historical information. Tours are not rushed. Ask all the questions you want, and this experience gets you up closer to the different structures than many other... More

The cave tour obviously is the best part. The guides know their stuff and are entertaining. The cathedral experience could be improved on quite a bit but as a first experience in a cavern for my family, it was definitely worth it. We were a small group of 6 and the tour guide catered to all the questions and lingering... More

If it's raining or too hot, this is the place to go. The caverns are always cool. Give yourself some time because it's a busy place with lots of tourists, but the caverns are fantastic and the guides are good. Take lots of pictures.

We stopped at the Info Booth in Front Royal and were greeted by an outstanding guide who told us about the Caverns. She provided us with maps of Skyline Drive and suggested a route which we followed. The Cavern tour was excellent and the guide, Sunny did a great job.

We weren't sure which caverns to check out while in the area. We decided to go to the most convenient one, and we were not let down. We used a coupon to get $2 off per person. Our tour guide, Brooke, was awesome. She was super friendly, and kept us laughing the whole time. The caverns were beautiful, and we... More

This is a well done cavern. I've been to caverns all over the country from ones you ride in jeeps to Carlsbad caverns in New Mexico. This one is a great tour. They have many excellent formations including an ultra rare crystal. Give it a look.

Did not take the tour - too expensive - but the shop was interesting - A ticket costs $20. I don't begrudge the $20 - but it was too expensive for me at this time. I did look around at the shop and took a photo of a very impressive geode.
