It was beautiful, but I was very disappointed as I had seen pictures of people at the bottom and top. My friend and I arrived and there were multiple signs about going down there and how you'd be fined. It's basically just an overlook.

This waterfall is tall and dramatic and photo-worthy. However, it is about 9-10 miles from the interstate, north on Route 220, so be prepared to spend some time driving up the mountain on banked and curvy roads. We are glad we took the detour--the overlook is a super-short walk from the parking area, and we enjoyed taking in the colorful... More

We would have driven right past this had it not been for reading the reviews on TA. These falls are right on the side of the highway and gorgeous. If you're not looking for it, you could miss the small parking lot. Take the short path for the best photo opportunities.

We saw this in the Va Travel Guide I picked up at the rest stop yesterday and realized it was right up the road. We decided to stop and see it. Im so glad we did. It was absolutely beautiful. Had a few picnic tables if you wanted to eat or take a break. You can get to bottom of... More

We have been here numerous time and we love it. It is right off the highway. You can take the trail around the fence to take the trail to a swimming area and then follow the trail to the top of the falls. It is so breath taking. You can follow the trail to the bottom if you care to... More

Thomas Jefferson viewed these cascading falls over 200 years ago! He mentioned this natural spring in his "Notes on Virginia." Located on Route 220 in Alleghany County, Virginia, Falling Spring is a popular scenic overlook. Bring your camera!

It was my first time visiting this place and OH MY, it was lovely. Everything about it was so enticing to me. This place is huge, you can explore so many different areas and find trails to hike on and discover lakes and natures swimming pools. (SO MANY PLACES TO SWIM IN). The rocks and waterfall were beautiful. The water... More

I took a few of my friends here for a day of fun and it seriously did not disappoint. The first swimming hole at the top of the waterfall is less than a 2 minute walk from the (very small) parking lot. It's got 2 rope swings and a very slippery log you can jump off into about 6.5 feet... More

I have hiked quite a few waterfalls in Virginia, but this must be my favorite. The backdrop of mountains, the geological features, and fullness of the falls itself are amazing. Bonus, there is a small "cave" behind the falls. Be advised there are signs posted prohibiting hiking. I do not see why they simply cannot say "proceed with caution," as... More
