My favorite part of the museum visit was being able to go inside the train cars and locomotives. The Greenbrier dining car was lovely, and made me long for the charm of years-ago railroad travel. Be sure to ask the super-friendly staff to turn on the model trains in the extensive layout. The museum displays offer a comprehensive history of... More

The little museum is very nice and does a good job covering the history of C&O. The O-scale exhibit was very impressive and the staff was very friendly. The outdoor rolling stock exhibits were few but they restored examples were well done. We combined our visit with an Amtrak adventure for our 8-year old and luckily the Cardinal was running... More

We visited while staying at Douthat State Park, just like 8 miles drive, and was a fun day exploring Clifton Forge and learning the railroad history and more of the area. I highly recommend this.

If you're a railroad buffet this is a nice place to see while in town. They have old cars to pass thru. Fair amount of historical pictures. A little kids train to ride on.

My husband is a rail fan, so whenever our travels take us anywhere near restored depots, train museums, etc., we always seem to veer in that direction. Inside the restored depot, there is some memorabilia and re-creation of what it looked like back in the day. Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. Vintage locomotives and train cars to see on exterior.... More

We had lots of fun in the museum and walking through the rail cars. Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in Clifton Forge.

Went in searching for a Hinton, West Virginia train poster that I saw in a little eatery in Hinton. (They did not have it in stock, but explained I could order on line.) Ended up buying Chessie Cat items. Fun! So much fun! The gentlemen watching the shop were informative and engaging -- obviously proud of their history with the... More

Passing through on a road trip with 3 twelve year olds and looking for a place to stop and stretch and have a little fun. The price was great, 5 for the kids and 8 for me. There was a museum, tower, and real trains to explore. The kids had a blast as did I. There was also a little... More

Wonderful activity for kids and adults. Train buffs will love the steam engine, dining car and caboose tour and kids will be fascinated by the model trains. The ride on the small model train is fun for everyone.
