Our 11 year old daughter really enjoyed looking for the information on the sheet. One of our favorite parts of the museum was being able to see Misty... More

The museum had lots of interesting information but it seemed a bit disorganized. Pre-historic, 1800's modern seemed mixed up. Inside temperature was warm and muggy for a November day.

This is a fabulous museum full of local history. Great insight into life on the eastern shore islands, the oyster industry, Chincoteague's ponies, early tourism to the islands, history of the market gunners and the methods and equipment they used. Very helpful museum staff. Its worth doing the treasure hunt so you can get to see and understand everything in... More

This is a very small museum that offers much more than what you would expect. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The exhibits are very interesting and well thought-out. Kids and adults alike should stop at least once when visiting the island!

Local museum located on the marsh. It is possible to miss. Excellent displays detailing the history and lifestyle of the island. Many interactive displays as well as a screened in outside marsh observation deck.

This museum tells the story of the island, the waterman, the lighthouse on Assateague Island and the way of life on the Eastern Shore.

The main attraction is the wild ponies. But a trip through the museum (which includes Misty and Stormy) teaches you there's much more. The refuge, the light house, duck decoys, oysters and more. Did you know the island sided with the North in the Civil War? Or that they almost lost the pony herd after a terrible storm? Spend an... More

We originally went to the museum because it was raining and we couldn't go to the beach. It was a pleasant surprise for us. It is a great place to learn about the island history in a friendly atmosphere. You should do the seek and find for kids and adults it helps you see things you might otherwise miss
