Overpriced non-guided hunt in other people's blinds. Most of the time they are not brushed in. The owner pays other inexperienced "guides" like Shane who takes a kayak because he is afraid to walk in the water. Leaves you in blind and does not know...More

Fine day on the water with this tour group. They dock their boats at a quaint harbor at the south end of Chincoteague. There you can see the local fleet of fishing vessels and crabbers. The area is absolutely stunning. Lots of wildlife to see...More

I went on a nature cruise with my fellow plant conference attendees—the experience was enlightening. The captain was friendly talking with me and answering my questions about the history of the Eastern Shore. He knew a lot about the wild ponies too. He had a...More

My wife and I did the pony tour with Assateague Explorer right around Thanksgiving. This was very enjoyable even though Chincoteague Island is in its off-season; temp was slightly cold but the warm sun made it very pleasant. Captain Shane handle the boat well and...More

Highly recommend seeing Chincoteague Island by kayak with Assateague explorer! The island is beautiful and our guide, Shane, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife. Had a great time and it made my experience on the island even better.

We had tried to find the wild horses on Chincoteague Island by car and on foot, that didn't go well. We decided to try Assateague Explorer. It was a fun trip with a very knowledgeable and friendly crew. We got a great view of the...More

My husband and I booked a kayak tour on our anniversary weekend and it was quite a challenge but Jake was more than patient and accommodating. Jake was also very knowledgeable about the area and where the ponies would be and knew the waters and...More

Shane took us on a great trip! We got up close to the ponies! It was a easy trip, not like we like had to paddle like crazy to keep up. Slow & steady so you could enjoy the view.

Our awesome guide, Shane, took us out on a kayak tour on sept. 19th. It was only my family of 4 (2 12 yr old girls) as this was right after Hurricane Florence hit NC/SC area, so wasn't crowded at all. We had a beautiful...More
