It is a calming place to go. They have a nice camp ground. Lots of places to take walks. A nice lake which we intent to go back with our Kayaks. We took our grandson just because it was so nice out and wanted to be outside. They also have good bike trails which we intent to go back with... More

There are many sites here that provide a more natural location. There are more trees and spaces between campsites creating a back to nature feel. The hiking trails are easy and enjoyable. We rode our bikes and got in 15 miles easily.

It's a big park. Great hiking and biking trails. It's very well kept - bathhouses and bathrooms and all Common areas very clean. Nice lake ...kid and dog friendly . Fishing /kayaking on site. No golf carts. Easy drive to restaurants and grocery stores. Most folks who camp are friendly and willing to help if you run into trouble. Park... More

If you haven't been to Pocahontas State Park it is a hidden gem. The sites are nice and big you are not right up on your next door neighbor. they have 4 Yurts brand new for 2017, and nice cabins for those who don't have a RV. There are many many biking and hiking paths. If you have horses there... More

The new mountain bike flow trails are fantastic! The bike trails in Pocahontas State Park are now part of the Richmond Regional Ride Center so even more improvements are planned. There are even hand cycle trails for disabled riders. There really are trails for everyone here.

I am sorry you had a bad experience. The swimming area is not crowded all the time. Was your visit over 4th of July maybe? Chesterfield County will be building a new one in the future which will take some of the demand of our facility. We have so many other things to do in the park, you can come... More

Our son held his wedding at the Swift Creek Camp Banquet Hall. Wonderful building and facilities for the event. Although there are no utensils or pans in the kitchen, the whole ambience is wonderful. Plenty of parking, even though a bit remote. Building is large, but comfortable; facilities are more than adequate. Price was very reasonable when compared to other... More

The park has an informative nature museum and CCC museum, which was especially impressive to me because it was the only park that I have seen that displays and explains the New Deal era and the formation of the parks in such detail. The trails we took were moderate in elevation but covered over two miles depending on which way... More

Visited this park on Presidents' Day for a hike around Beaver Lake. Some difficulty finding the trail as we did not see any signs. Drove around and saw a ranger who directed us to the trail. Multiple trails just for hiking, some for biking and hiking. Trail markers at various points but we still found it tricky to stay on... More
