We visit twice yearly and Carter Mountain never disappoints. The peach pies, jellies, fresh peaches, apples, plums, apple slushies, and wine tastings are all things we love. The view is beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous and the music events are fantastic. Great for family visits!

Great apples, scenic views, cute country store. Cider and donuts for sale. Everything is great however prices are way too high. $10.56 for 2 caramel apples? Donuts are around $11 for 12. Little donuts. Taste good but expensive.

This was my first visit, won't be the last. It's a nice place if you are going to pick or buy apples. Not much to do there but eat, shop, and enjoy the beautiful view. I don't understand why people say it's over hyped, it's...More

Great place and beautiful views of Charlottesville. Pick your own apples if that is what you would like. Or they have bins of all kinds of apples and in October they have lots of pumpkins. And a wonderful selection of hard ciders.

This is a beautiful location on top of the mountain with great views of the distant blue ridge mountains, however it’s a bit of a circus with lots of visitors. They advertise the cider donuts which were packaged elsewhere and stale—nothing like a fresh, hot...More

No animals. You might see deer, wild turkey, raccoons, possum or other animals native to the area, but unless they have a petting zoo event etc. there are no animals there as part of the attraction.

There is no fee, just the cost of the apples you pick. The cost depends on the type of apples you pick but is slightly less than what you'd pay in the stores.
