I've been to Michie's Tavern over a dozen times and I have to say, it's always good. The food is classic fried chicken, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, green beans, beets, coleslaw, cornbread or biscuits etc. It's always prepared well and you can have as much as you want although I never have room for seconds because I'm already satisfied. You... More

The food here is excellent (fried chicken is their specialty but they also have BBQ, I believe) but in October its an insanely long wait (~a couple hours) -- you can tour the house afterwards as well. All interesting, but you better not be in a hurry.

Absolutely amazing homemade food and a very cool colonial atmosphere. Waiters are dressed in colonial wear and the food is unlimited, although it's filling so you probably won't get through too many plates. Great place, must see if you're visiting Monticello

The tour is self guided and interesting but THE FOOD!! If you like fried chicken then stop here! Do not pass go, do not collect $200. The chicken was amazing the sides were also very good. Its a buffet but then your seconds (or thirds) are brought to you. The waitress even brought me a new biscuit because fresh ones... More

This was a great stop. Incredible history, original wood floors from late 1700's. Great Southern cooking, buffet with family style seating. Best fried chicken I have had and the peach cobbler was exceptional. Highly recommend this for all ages!

This place is not very handicap accessible which was impirtant to us today but the food buffet was very good. A little pricey. The waitresses are in costume of Thomas Jefferson's day and were very attentive. Best fried chicken i have ever had.

fried chicken, brisket, beets, beans and other 18 century foods are available. Apple cider , beer are extra , but the keep bringing food to eat at your table. Only good for lunch as they close at 3pm

The environment was very nice. However, i really didn't like the food. The fried chicken gave me horrible indigestion and most of the food was mediocre. I ordered wine and it came in a metal cup which made it undesirable. Unfortunately, it will be my only visit. It is in a great location and scenery was beautiful.

Michie Tavern is a real treat. The Ordinary for lunch is special. The people are fun and informative. Excellent service and delicious food. The General Store is more than you think. We did some wine tasting and apple butter tasting. Another very pleasant experience. Be sure to go early. The parking fills up fast for lunch.
