UNESCO was right in making the school a world heritage site

Absolutely beautiful campus. I was surprised to find several intact pieces of the Berlin Wall on display on campus.

The University is historical and deserves a tour if you are in the area. I was there in 1976 and it has changed dramatically.

We toured the Academical Village with a student guide on a drizzly Sunday afternoon. The guide brought history to life for s with the stories he told. We then returned, two days later, to explore more on our own. The campus was designed by Thomas Jefferson and the college he envisioned was revolutionary for its time. I highly recommend a... More

When Thomas Jefferson designed the Rotunda it was for student use, every day! It was the library and study center. When I was a student in the seventies, the Rotunda was usually locked up and only used for special events. The Rotunda has now returned to it's original use. Students can use the study tables, check out books on the... More

We wanted to see the buildings and general layout of the University after being so impressed with Monticello. Jefferson's plans for the University were obvious and impressive. It was a great visit even without entering any of the buildings. The town surrounding the University was typical of a college town and also added to the enjoyment of the day.

Walking around UVA is very accessible, and it's got a very pretty campus. You can explore a lot on your own, but I recommend trying to find a guide if at all possible to gain a better historical perspective.

The campus is beautiful and cohesive. It was interesting to learn Jefferson's vision for the university. You can really feel the history here, and the students seem so proud of the school's history.

You can feel the history here. To put yourself back about 200 years and imagine what was going on as you hear the stories of the old buildings makes you feel like you were there. Jefferson's ideas were/are awesome. The campus overall is nice, but as you tour and start to look closer, you can see a lack of maintenance,... More
