This is a pedestrian only outdoor shopping area. Nice to see it's mostly still locally-owned stores. Hopefully, it stays that way. Nice place for a sunny day walk, but not much else to do but eat and shop. Worth a few hours of meandering.

The pedestrian-only mall is actually several blocks of what were -- still are -- locally-owned shops and restaurants. There is also a restored movie theater that offers live shows. We found an sold-fashion ice cream parlor, a Chinese restaurant, a menswear store that looks like it hasn't changed since at least the 1950s. There's a toy store, a stationer, you... More

Great place for eats and drinks! There are plenty of restaurants and so you definitely have a lot of choices. It's fairly large area and so plan to either bar hop or just spend the day outside walking around. They did a real good job of creating this centralized location. Just beware is it is about a 1 mile walk... More

Great first night in Charlottesville, walking distance from the historic downtown square. Evening dining is stunning with outdoor seating at most of the restaurants lit with strung lights setting that perfect southern charm and hospitality. During the day, the cobblestone streets, red brick buildings and Romanesque revival architecture are so perfectly preserved it is as if you step back in... More

I was hoping this mall would have lots of quaint shops but most of them didn't seem to have a lot of selection. A lot of the stores seemed like duplicates and there were many more restaurants then I thought there would be. One of the worse parts was all of the people asking for money outside of stores.

We visited the downtown mall area on a nice sunny afternoon. Plenty of parking in the garage. Nice shops and restaurants; although many were closed on Sunday. We also saw the freedom of speech wall.

Although smaller than I anticipated, parking was easy (garage) and we enjoyed the afternoon with lunch and a visit to the chocolate shop! I'll go back next time I am in town.

The Downtown Mall is a fabulous place. Lots of outdoor cafes, locally owned shops, etc. Beautifful trees line the middle. You can't go wrong.

This be a fun street for walking, sitting, dining, window shopping, and checking out pretty college girls in their summer clothing. Gets pretty hot in the summer. I'm Alzor Scimitoth.
