A pilgrimage for gardeners and history-buffs alike! Get an early house tour time (definitely reserve online and don't wait to buy at the estate, you might be disappointed), then take the included garden and slavery tours. All three tours were conducted by knowledgable, approachable and...More

If you're a history buff this will thrill you. Our guide was informative, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The property really takes you back in time. The behind the scenes tour and the slavery tour are musts. The grounds and gardens not so much.

Bought tickets online the day before our visit. Had some very good soup in the cafe before our tour. Guide Judy was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A beautiful home and breathtaking views. Educational and enjoyable visit. Would recommend.

The thing I liked most about this mansion is the planning that made it what it is. Little things like having the vegetable garden adjacent to the kitchen, the ice house on the north side of the house, using the verandas to collect water, being...More

The proximity of these two destinations makes it possible to combine touring and enjoying both of them in one day, and it's nice to break up the historical narratives and walking at Monticello with lunch at Michie's Tavern and a little shopping in the stores...More
