Since the house itself is occupied by a family, it is not open. However, the grounds are totally worth a ramble and what a beautiful view of the wide wonderful James River. The fee was only $5 and worth every penny. The outbuildings are all...More

Westover is one of the historic James River Plantation homes. Understanding the background and history of these locations is key to understanding US history of the period. The house is not normally open for tours but the grounds and gardens (which are quiet lovely) are...More

Westover is apparently open to the public only twice a year. We were allowed to tour a few rooms of the house as part of the annual Virginia Garden Week. The grounds and location on the James River are impressive as is the house. The...More

I really enjoyed this personal tour of their private plantation home. I appreciate them opening up their family home to us and taking time out of their time to share their knowledge.

Lovely home next to Berkeley. We were lucky it was open for a special day, still a residence of the owners. Nice mix of old and new with a unique history with Benedict Arnold, and later with Union troops in the Civil War.

Even though you can't go inside the house, I highly recommend stopping at this estate. The gardens are beautiful, the rest of the grounds are lovely and the house's exterior is worth seeing. This was my friends favorite stop on our tour of the James...More

Hello, My name is Rebecca Selden I am curious to how my family name fits into this property . My father had mentioned it to me when I was a young girl , at the time I had little interest in such things . If anyone has any information on this topic please respond . Thanks in advance !
