If you're in the region of the KY-VA state border, this park is well worth a stop. Peaceful, serene, and a spectacular view from the lookouts--a view that many people east of the Mississippi are probably unaware of. The river running below has rapids, and the area is fairly remote. We were there in early January and, of course, no... More

Stayed in one of the cottages and really enjoyed it. The cottages are away from everything and very comfortable and peaceful. The park was very nice. We hiked on nine different trails and saw many awesome views. The staff were very friendly, nice, and helpful. We will come back again!

The hiking trails are relatively short to get to the major overlooks. More challenging and long trails exist of course if you have time. We rented a travel trailer for the first time and enjoyed the more than ample camp-site. The lodge provided a very good buffet bar as well as tasty items from the menu as well. No complaints... We enjoyed the campground as well as the park. I had read from previous visitors on trip advisor to reserve camping spot A -58 and we were very glad that we did. This campground gets very busy on the weekends an the A-58 spot is in the back by itself. We delighted in watching the eagles fly overhead during a... More

I love this park. I haven't been there since I was a kid. The leaves changing colors was beautiful. The looking out points over the mountains are breathtaking. The park has a lodge, cabins. Great time

The natural beauty of the breaks in the fall is amazing and state parks are always a family value. The restaurant was not open, as it was off season with limited days, but, there are refrigerators in the room and drinks and sundries at the lodge. We visited both Elkhorn City, Kentucky and Haysi, Virginia to dine for lunch and... More

We recently stayed here for a workshop, and thoroughly enjoyed every part of our stay. The facilities are well kept, and the staff extremely helpful and courteous. There are many different lodging options, which makes it convenient for any size group. Look forward to visiting again!

Great Campground with warm, clean facilities. Park staff is nice and helpful. Park is quiet, and family friendly, would definitely recommend this park.

Looking at a fairly slick website led us to reserve a 51 foot pull-through site. Technically, it is a pull-through but it has a 45 degree bend in the middle making it impossible to pull my 40 foot fifth wheel through the site. All of their pull-through sites are designed this way and each has trees on the inside of... More
