We went here to see the beautiful scenery and view, along with the stunning ruins. The wine tasting area was a little crowded and the wines themselves were not exceptional, but that isn't surprising for Virginia wines. We had a fun time!

This turned out to be a wonderful way to spend a couple hours and the largest vineyard tasting I've been too, in all a total of 21 wines, with a good selection of whites, Rose', reds and dessert wines, very helpful and informative staff and a great atmosphere to go with it, I finished my time there sat in lovely... This place had good wine. Make sure you ask about the story behind the property if no one tells you. Its run by an Italian corporation (family that lives in Italy and has multiple wineries there too) but uses mainly local grapes. The pourers were nice but only one of them made sure we got the history of the winery... More

After reading numerous reviews about the quality of the wine and the facilities, this winery was at the top of our list. Once we arrived and paid for our tasting, our wait in line started... This winery has 5 stations for tasting the wine and all you do is wait in line and wait to go to the next station.... More

Recently took our 2 wine loving adult children on a several day wine tasting excursion in the Shenandoah Valley area. Having toured a variety of wineries from California, Texas, New York and Virginia, we all agree this is the best. Sampling includes all their wines and is very well organized. Can't beat the price of $7 which includes the glass.... More

Our favorite winery both as a destination and for their wines. I'm a big fan of Octagon so was thrilled that they offered an option to taste a flight of vintages in the library - worth the extra cost for more relaxed atmosphere and attentive service.

This is probably the best Vineyard in Virginia. The scenery is astounding. There are 20 or so different wines to taste, and most are excellent. The ruins of the Jefferson designed house is gorgeous if not a little creepy. The site makes an excellent place for a picnic. Skip the other vineyards in the area and spend your day here.

A small group (4) of us went to the winery for a tasting in the middle of the week. When we walked into the tasting room, it had a very poor odor that interfered with our tasting. The place was busy and the pourers gave a minimal description of the wines we tasted. I was frustrated with the smell and... More

It is a big vineyard with lots of history. I came here to see the ruins of the old mansion, a place designed by Thomas Jefferson. Interesting to see.

My visit was on a Thursday in October. A lot of winery's in the area are closed on weekdays so this stop wasn't very crowded at all. I really enjoy a wine tasting where the person conducting the taste isn't rushed and provides good information to help explain why the wine from 2013; a wetter season taste different then the...
