We took the cable car to the top and back, just to take photos. There is a zip line there for daredevils - but not for me - straight down!

Spent a couple of strenuous hours hiking up the mountain from the state park to find the peak crowded. You can find less challenging approaches from the ski resort on the Stowe side of the mountain. The views are worth the effort!

Went yesterday (9/17/18) and parked at Underhill State Park. From this side, less touristy stuff, camping and hiking. Decided to go up via Halfway House Trail and across the Long Trail to the summit then back down via Sunset Ridge Trail. This loop took longer...More

Be sure to research your hike before attempting. Make sure the weather is clear as you are above tree line.

Taking the Gondola or Toll road puts you in reach of the peak. We took the toll road and then hiked along the Long Trail to the summit. The trail is pretty boney with some tough rock hopping in a few spots. All in all...More

We debated whether to ride the gondola to the top of Mt. Mansfield given the steep price, but in the end I'm so glad we did. The kids (age 2 and 4) loved the ride and the view from the top was gorgeous. If we...More

We walked the Mt Mansfield Traverse, up the Hasleton Trail, along the Chin and down the Long Trail. At 10km total length, it took us six full hours of hiking, climbing and scrambling and we are both fit and have been walking regularly on holiday,...More

The tallest peak in Vermont is a challenging and rewarding hike, with a wonderful 360 degree view at the top. Most recently, we hiked from the Underhill State Park on the west side. We went up the Laura Cowles trail and came down the Sunset...More

Hiked a 3.5 mile loop of the X-Country trails on Mt Mansfield. It was a beautiful trail by a river and was great for adults, 2 dogs and a 3 year old.

Maybe in the summer but not in the winter, but there is always the gondola... they have winter hikes in the snow, just call the adventure center in the base village.

The gondola takes you to the top of the mountain slowly and takes about 15 minutes to get to the top. I was surprised at how steady the ride is. However once you reach the top, we did get off rather quickly, although as... More
