The parking area was good, with decent restrooms. We chose the short hike to the cave and the huge rocks and lush vegetation was beautiful. There is a much more strenuous path originating from the same parking lot but we didn't try that one.

Avoid in May! We were met with waist-deep snow halfway up, and it made for a treacherous hike. It was certainly beautiful at the peak, however. We're typically well-suited for a "3 hour and difficult" hike (per the trail's description), but it took us a...More

My husband and I enjoyed the picture-perfect foliage here this past October, and also enjoyed a short (but surprisingly strenuous!) hike on sterling pond trail, which was beautiful and a lot of fun. Parking was a bit of a mess though, so get here early...More

Let me start by saying it was not a nice day when we visited. This unfortunately meant we could not do as much as we had first planned. With the insistent rain it meant underfoot was slippy and in some places treacherous as the mountain...More

Was a little nervous after asking some locals about the safety of driving this road.. it was so worth it!! Drive slowly and you’ll be fine! The road winds around boulders as progressing up into the mountain. There are places to stop off and take...More

It is a very enjoyable ride to the summit, especially as you near the top. It was fun climbing around at the summit. The drive down is beautiful, especially in the fall with the colorful folaige.

We only had an hour or so and drove up from Stowe. The drive to the top was spectacular. The notch itself and the information placards were fascinating. We regret not having more time to hike or canoe. This is a lovely setting.

The fall colors were beautiful this fall, making the drive through Smugglers Notch a real treat. We did the short (1/4 mile) walk to Bingham Falls which was worth the time to see!

We were staying in Stowe and although it was a bit cloudy we drove up towards Mount Mansfield. Due to the weather we decided to not pay for the toll road but continued on to Smugglers Notch. What a beautiful area! Don't miss it if...More
